PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Welcome to the forefront of urban safety innovation in North Nashville! The
Leveraging Advanced Data to Deliver Multimodal Safety (LADDMS) initiative
represents a new approach to enhancing the safety of our streets, sidewalks, and
bike lanes through cutting-edge technology.

This project is a collaboration led by the Nashville Department of
Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) in collaboration with
Tennessee State University, University of Tennessee Chattanooga, and Vanderbilt
University. Together, we're dedicated to identifying and resolving safety
concerns that traditional reporting methods might overlook.

Our focus is on protecting the most vulnerable road users—pedestrians and
cyclists. By deploying LiDAR—light detection and ranging technology—we are able
to spot and fix safety issues that may not be caught in traditional reports.
This data-driven strategy allows us to pinpoint areas of concern and implement
targeted solutions to enhance safety for all.

LADDMS is more than just a project; it's a vital component of our broader vision
zero strategy to eliminate all traffic-related deaths and severe injuries and at
the same time, increasing safety, equity, and mobility for all users.

PROJECT LOCATION

The project is located in North Nashville. Sensors will be located on
Clarksville Pike, Dr. DB Todd Blvd., and Buchanan Street.  See below for a
