Christian Vaccaro, professor in the Department of Sociology, co-authored
"Exploring Humor in Child Welfare Casework: Laugh to Get Through It or Cry
Forever" with Lisa Landram, alumna of the Administration and Leadership Studies
in Nonprofit and Public Sectors program (PhD ’20). Landram is an incoming

Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Office of International Education and two
members of the office have been recognized by the Institute of International
Education with certificates of appreciation from the IIE’s Scholar Rescue Fund
Alliance.

More than 1,500 new graduates were honored at spring commencement ceremonies

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI JOHN “JACK” FRANK SELECTED FOR 2024 IUP PRESIDENT’S MEDAL
OF DISTINCTION

May 10, 2024 • Presidential Announcements University News IUP Now Alumni

John “Jack” Frank, a 1958 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has
received the 2024 IUP President’s Medal of Distinction. President Michael
Driscoll presented Frank with the award on May 9 “with pride and gratitude in
recognition of outstanding professional achievement.”

CRIMSON HAWK ATHLETICS

IUP sponsors 21 NCAA Division II varsity teams in in basketball, cross country,
diving, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming,
tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Our teams have won 104 PSAC championships and two national team championships; a
number of student-athletes have won national championships. Scholarships are
available for all varsity sports.
