LONG COVID COMPANION

Intended for people with Long Covid, this application is a daily companion for
tracking health and quality of life over the long term.

HOW AND BY WHOM WAS LONG COVID COMPANION DEVELOPED?

The Long COVID Companion application was co-developed by the Luxembourg
Institute of Health (LIH), people affected by Long Covid and healthcare
professionals, following a precise methodology to ensure that the needs of
people with Long Covid were met. Patient partners of the #apresJ20 Long Covid
France association were also involved throughout the development process. 


WHY LONG COVID COMPANION?

The aim of this application is to provide day-to-day support for adults with
Long Covid, helping them to manage their symptoms more effectively, visualize
their progress and communicate with the healthcare professionals who care for
them. 

Long COVID Companion is not, and is not intended to be, a medical diagnostic
tool, personal medical advice or treatment aid, and in no way replaces the
advice, diagnosis or recommendations of a healthcare professional.


WHAT ARE THE MAIN FUNCTIONALITIES OF LONG COVID COMPANION?

Long COVID Companion consists of several modules that can be used independently
and optionally.

MONITOR YOUR GLOBAL HEALTH

You can indicate on a scale of 0 to 10 your perception of your overall health,
taking into account your symptoms and your mood.

HOW DO I GET LONG COVID COMPANION?

Long COVID Companion is available free of charge to all people affected by Long
Covid. It’s a web application, so there’s no need to download it from the
stores. You can access it via computer, smartphone or tablet. Just copy and
paste the address app.longcovidcompanion.org into your browser’s search bar, or
scan the QR code below. 




You can then create a shortcut on your device to use it just like any other
application.

TRACK YOUR SYMPTOMS

You can choose the symptoms you experience and want to track from a list of
around 60 symptoms, and on a daily basis, or as often as you wish, you can
indicate the intensity with which you feel them. 

In addition to this self-assessment, you can track some symptoms in greater
depth using scientifically validated questionnaires.

VOCAL DIARY

The vocal diary is a tool that lets you record how you feel, and any other
information you want to keep, in a simple voice recording. You can access this
voice diary at any time to retrieve the information you have entered. It’s an
additional tool for monitoring your overall health. 

MEDICAL AND LIFE EVENTS DIARY

This function complements the vocal diary by allowing you to indicate on the
calendar your medical appointments, treatments and any other medical information
you consider important. The life diary allows you to indicate your level of
physical and intellectual activity, stressful events or food intake.

VISUALIZATION OF HEALTH TRENDS AND CREATION OF A PDF REPORT COMPILING ALL YOUR
INFORMATION TO SHARE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS OR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

A high-visual graphical representation shows the evolution of your symptoms and
your general state of health over a period of time of your choice (last 2 weeks,
last month or last 6 months). 

A PDF report can be downloaded to share with your healthcare professionals. 

INFORMATION ON LONG COVID AND SPECIALIZED CARE NETWORKS

Links to informative websites and specialized care networks are provided to
facilitate access to validated information on Long Covid and its symptoms, and
to help find medical care (most of them in French but more content in English
coming soon).




HOW IS LONG COVID COMPANION DATA STORED AND PROTECTED?

Application data is collected, stored and processed by LIH to ensure its use.
The different types of data (user account identifiers, health data and voice
recordings) are stored on different servers, and access to the data is limited
to a few duly authorized persons. 

After complete anonymization, the data may be used to further research on Long
Covid. 

Detailed explanations of data processing are given by Long COVID Companion
before the user account is created.
