André Barreto Erstellt mit Bild zum Verschieben ziehen ANDRÉ BARRETO Hey there, welcome! This is my personal website, where you may find out more about me, my work and things I like. Feel free to look around! I’m glad you stumbled here :) Fast-forward: about me | career profile | my games ABOUT ME Born and raised in Vila Velha—Brazil, I’ve always loved and played video games, ever since my parents could afford a computer. Decades later, I’m living a childhood dream of creating fun (hopefully!) interactive experiences like the ones that shaped my early years with excitement and curiosity. I started working with game development and Unity in 2017. Since then, I created more than 10 indie games and co-founded a studio named clareira dos jogos. Aaaand here are some random facts about me: living: Sundbyberg, Stockholm, Sweden reading: ️️ playing: Loop Hero five games I worship five movies I love five musics I adore Oh, would you like to get in touch perhaps? Working in my roles, I’ve found myself as an agile and communicative developer, great at finding creative solutions and helping teams reach their goals by making processes easier and more fun! Game development is an enormous task that require multiple expertises and collaborative work. Of all, the things I enjoy (and excel) the most are: Designing and programming system and mechanics – creating foundational rules and behaviors of a game is super satisfying. Making things move, bounce and react to players – in a sense, giving life to ordinary and static assets never fails to feel great. Creating developer tools – for automating and facilitating common or complex procedures, making life easier for me and other coworkers (a huge win-win). Need my Resume for rituals or something? Here you go! AndreBarreto_Resume_2023.pdf 210.8KB Finding yourself a game developer comes after long journeys… 2014~2016: FIGURING IT OUT Mine started in 2014, when I got into college to learn the mystical computer science. Beyond learning super important fundamentals for software architecture and programming logic, I met a good friend (Eric ) that recommended a local certificate program for game programming (when I mentioned my childhood dream to be one!). I joined the aforementioned program in 2016 and that puts me in the path to get where I am today. During that time I learned Unity, created a lasting network with fellow aspiring devs and made a few tiny games as part of my learning process. 2018: GROUPING UP Amidst my graduation and just after achieving my game programming certificate, I had the privilege to have such awesome friends that also wanted to become game developers. Each with very different skills, we banded up, forming a group that soon would become clareira dos jogos, a development studio focused on biology and environment awareness games. We specialized in 2D games, making 5 of them, from game jams to projects sold to local government. As co-founder and solo programmer, I learned a lot about game development with this experience. I was responsible for architecting, programming and publishing all projects. Consistently, I managed to find technical and creative solutions, helping my team and promoting inclusion in using Unity and other complex tools. 2020~2021: STARTING OUT After completing my graduation, I got my first job as a Unity Developer at Inside Tecnologia. There I was responsible for serious games development in VR, creating training software sold to big companies such as Vale and ArcelorMittal. I quickly learned about VR game development with Unity and became proficient at it! I specially liked setting up hand gestures I also suggested, designed and implemented a data collection and storage solution using REST API — created using ASP.NET — to support busyness requirements for custom and scalable analysis and data digest features. 2021~2022: LEAFY! I left Inside and joined Main Leaf, an outsourcing game development studio, where I am up to this day! Working fully remote, I’m well-known as an agile developer, delivering features fast while keeping quality standards and a great workflow with other team members. Over here, I’m quickly learning a lot with more experienced programmers, which motivates me to learn even more! I’ve been tasked with difficult assignments, such as researching and implementing web3 features for games and integrating with (the ultra confusing) AWS services. Also, to assist team leads, I was tasked with code review and (partially) leading junior developers with code architecture and cleanliness. 2022~2023: HI SWEDEN! ~in progress~ And that sums up all my professional gamedev experiences… for now! back to top ALL MY GAMES Here you can quickly check out all games I’ve created, always together with wonderful people!
