TOGETHER FOR IDAHO

The Idaho Democratic Party prioritizes Idaho’s core issues, fighting for
families, seniors, students, and veterans, and working to elect Democrats
statewide. By uniting people from the grassroots to the Capitol, we strive to
strengthen Idaho and hold Republicans accountable.

MOVING IDAHO FORWARD

WE ARE THE IDAHO DEMOCRATIC PARTY

From Aberdeen to Bonners Ferry — and every place in between — we’re organizing
to build a better, fairer, and brighter future for all Idahoans. As proud
stewards of Idaho’s heritage and its future, we champion responsible stewardship
of our environment, equitable access to quality education, affordable
healthcare, and economic opportunity. We stand up for the rights of workers,
champion women’s rights, advocate for LGBTQ+ equality, and ensure that the
voices of all of our communities are amplified and heard.

It was bizarre to see supporters of smart criminal justice reform flip and vote
to expand mandatory minimums--which only ensnare drug users (dealers already get
long sentences). @mlcarmel at @BoiseDev reported on the threats and big $ behind
the flips.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR: GOP SUPERMAJORITY FACES UNPRECEDENTED PRESSURE TO TOE
THE LINE

February 15, 2024

For democracy to work, elected leaders must have the freedom to act in the best
interest of their constituents. This bedrock principle is now being severely
undermined by Idaho’s House GOP leadership. We’re seeing historic levels of
strong-arming around votes behind closed doors and harsh punishment for dissent.
With the Idaho House looking more like the dysfunctional U.S. House of
Representatives, there are harmful repercussions for Idahoans.  At the [...]

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR: IDAHO CAN’T AFFORD BUDGET-BUSTING VOUCHERS

February 8, 2024

Investments in public education benefit all Idahoans. Regardless of whether we
have children attending school at any given moment, the advantages of strong
public education resonate throughout our communities. Unfortunately, the latest
effort by the out-of-state voucher lobby and a faction of Republicans to
implement a school voucher scheme poses a grave threat to our already
underfunded schools and the state budget. House Bill 447 would start as a [...]

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR: ON GUNS IN SCHOOLS, LET’S LISTEN TO LOCAL LEADERS AND
LAW ENFORCEMENT

February 1, 2024

All Idahoans should agree: the safety of our children is paramount. How we
decide to protect them may differ from community to community. When it comes to
guns in schools, current Idaho law allows locally elected school boards to set
the policies they deem appropriate. Some districts keep guns out of schools
unless they are in the hands of law enforcement. Others have policies providing
oversight. Unfortunately, House Bill [...]
