OUR PHILOSOPHY

Everyone has the ability to lead a happy and fulfilling life. Our philosophy is
rooted in the belief that mental and emotional well-being are integral to
overall health, and that therapy can be a powerful tool for achieving this
balance. The best way to do that is by utilizing evidenced based counselling
approaches, providing a personalized treatment plan, and developing a strong
therapeutic relationship.

OUR SERVICES

Richardson Counselling provides individual fee-based virtual counselling for
adults within Ontario. We develop an individualized treatment plan for all
people who access our services. We help people who have concerns with anxiety,
depression, substance use, trauma and chronic health concerns. You can even
schedule a free 15-minute meet and greet to see how we can specifically help
you.

OUR APPROACH

Richardson Counselling primarily uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to support
the people that we work with and help them overcome mental illness and the
struggles they are encountering in their lives. This approach focuses on how
your beliefs, behaviours, and emorions impact your life. We aim to ensure that
people experience a non-judgmental and compassionate approach in therapy.

FREE 15-MINUTE MEET AND GREET

This is an opportunity to learn how we will work together and what you can
expect from therapy. This allows you an opportunity to first meet with your
therapist and decide if they will be the right match for you. If you feel that
it may be a good fit, you can schedule a full appointment, however there is no
obligation.

FULL MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT

The purpose of the first full appointment is to complete an assessment. The
highly structured assessment will focus on gathering information regarding your
symptoms, strengths, challenges, and history. This information will shape the
overall treatment plans and goals for therapy. The assessment can sometimes take
more than one appointment and it is often best to schedule a longer appointment
for your assessment to complete in one session.





$150 for 50 Minute Session

$225 for 80 Minute Session

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING

Once the assessment and treatment plan is completed, you will finally begin the
counselling process. Appointments can range from 25 Minutes to 80 Minutes. All
counselling is individualized. For most problems, people may need anywhere from
6 to 20 sessions, and sessions are typically weekly or bi-weekly. As you
progress through therapy, the length between appointments will likely increase
as you start to see improvements and learn new ways to manage your mental
health.

STEPS IN THE BOOKING PROCESS

   You will be taken to our secure platform to book and schedule your
   appointment. The platform is powered by Jane, a trusted platform that meets
   all legally required security and privacy standards for managing and storing
   personal health information.
   
   

 * COMPLETE ONLINE INTAKE
   
   
   You will be asked to provide demographic information, contact information,
   symptoms, and to review important information regarding our services. You
   will also be asked to provide a credit card prior to scheduling. We will bill
   you directly and provide an receipt after each appointment that can submitted
   to your insurance provider.
   
   

 * SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT
   
   
   On the Jane Platform, you will be able to schedule your first appointment
   through the calendar. You will be sent an email reminder when your
   appointment is booked and another appointment reminder near the appointment
   date.
   
   

 * ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT
   
   
   At the time of your appointment, you will access a website link to the secure
   video platform. There is no need to download any apps or video meeting
   services. Please be sure you have a quiet and private place to attend your
   appointment. At the end of the appointment you will discuss whether you would
   like to schedule a new appointment.
   
   After the appointment you can schedule a new appointment.
   
   

 * RECEIVE YOUR RECEIPT FOR INSURANCE
   
   
   You will be charged on your credit card and provided a receipt to submit to
   your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. While most insurance
   providers accept services from Richardson Counselling, you should confirm
   with your insurance provider that services are covered under your plan.
