Bournemouth – Sat, Oct 26th 2024, 15:00 Frustration was the overriding emotion for Unai Emery after Bournemouth scored in the final seconds to deny Aston Villa a Premier League win at Villa Park on Saturday. The hosts were the dominant force for the majority of the contest, bringing out the best in Cherries ‘keeper Mark Travers before Ross Barkley broke through with 14 minutes left. However, three points turned into one in the sixth minute of stoppage time when Evanilson planted a header into the far corner to snatch a 1-1 draw for the away side. “Thank you to the supporters. We are frustrated but we played a fantastic game,” Emery said. “We are frustrated because we conceded a goal in the last moment but against one team like Bournemouth [that can happen]. Even deserving to win, when we were winning we were not getting the two-goal difference, we were defending until the last moment. “We needed to be focused and to be in our game plan being consistent. We played a fantastic game, a fantastic match in the first half and even in the first 30 minutes of the second half we played well, scored one goal and created chances. The goalkeeper saved a lot of chances for them. “In the last ten minutes after we were winning, they were pushing, they were creating some corners and they scored. We are frustrated but we have to try to be in balance with how we played today and were performing in the match until the last minute. “We will keep going, be positive. We will try to stand up quickly and prepare the next matches.” While victory was taken away in cruel fashion, the result made it 11 games unbeaten for Villa and took them to 18 points from nine top flight games. Emery is satisfied with the tally but is always pushing his players for more as they challenge on four fronts this season. Villa’s manager said: “We are thinking to get 20 (points), but we have to accept it. “We know it’s very difficult each match in the Premier League and we have to try to get stronger. “I want to get stronger tactically, I want to get stronger mentally, I want to get stronger emotionally. Those things we have to control as best as possible. “We are in this way and the players are following every message we are sending. We have work to do but we are positive.” Source link 0 Share premiernews13672 posts 1 comments * Prev Post More details are emerging about the supposed conflict between Pedri and former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez Next Post VAR controversially disallows Aston Villa’s opener against Bournemouth – as the Premier League claim ‘factual evidence’ proves the decision was correct All You might also like More from author Aston Villa Aston Villa and adidas celebrate legacy of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Aston Villa Villans prepare for Carabao Cup clash Aston Villa Matchday Guide: Aston Villa v Crystal Palace Aston Villa Martínez targeting titles with Villa after Yashin Trophy win Prev Next Leave A Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.
