WELCOME TO ALOE COTTAGE, DARLING

Aloe Cottage offers comfortable self-catering holiday accommodation in Darling,
near to Cape Town, South Africa. We are pet-friendly!

The holiday home has been beautifully decorated with top quality linen,
furniture and artwork and enjoys possibly the best views in Darling - over
rolling hills and farmlands to the distant mountains.

Aloe Cottage is the perfect romantic getaway for couples as well as for weekends
away with friends or family holidays. The cottage is also ideal corporate
accommodation when working in the Darling area.


ACCOMMODATION

Three en-suite bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests.

Downstairs comprises two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed, one with twin
beds) both luxuriously en-suite, with an open plan kitchen, dining and living
area with fireplace, leading via French doors to a large, sheltered verandah
with built-in braai. Stairs from the dining area lead to the spacious loft with
another sitting area. The loft has a queen-sized bed and free-standing Victorian
bath, with separate loo and basin. The loft has a small balcony with panoramic
views and guests can even star-gaze from bed!


LOCATION

The cottage is located in an indigenous renosterveld estate with only 9 other
houses in the whole estate. The house has been designed for privacy and
relaxation. Restaurants, shops and galleries are a mere 3 minutes' drive away,
but you will probably prefer to unwind by absorbing the peaceful country
atmosphere and wonderful views over the neighbouring farmlands. There are
beautiful walks and trails nearby. Two mountain bikes are included for your
pleasure to explore the quaint village of Darling.


AMENITIES

Aloe Cottage is fully equipped with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, gas stove,
electric oven, microwave and a chef's array of pots, pans and appliances. The
cottage includes a fireplace, heater, fans, books, games, a small fenced
indigenous garden, and lots more for your relaxation. It also includes 2
televisions, DVD players, selection of DVD discs, and a CD player, just in
case... Either bring your own DStv satellite smartcard or use ours for a nominal
fee.


ACTIVITIES

Enjoy your days unwinding on the sheltered verandah to the soundtrack of the
local birds, have a braai (wood is provided), visit the iconic Evita se Perron,
see the weaver birds build their nests right outside the window, curl up with a
book in the hammock, or just relax on the deep, comfy couches in front of the
fireplace with some fine Darling wine.

The adjacent fields of the Oude Post farm occasionally offer a glimpse of the
beautiful long horns and speckled hides of the Nguni cattle.

Other activities: wine tasting at nearby wine farms (Ormonde/Alexanderfontein,
Cloof, Darling Cellars or The Darling Wine Shop); excellent country restaurants;
Darling Brew beer tasting; museum; art galleries and local crafts; Duckitt
Orchid Nursery (1st Saturday of the month, May to Nov); various nature reserves,
bird watching; mountain biking at Wolwefontein Farm; Yzerfontein beach;
spectacular wild flowers in spring, Voorkamerfest arts festival in September;
golf at the 9-hole course; and Christmas in Winter at Evita se Perron

Darling is perfectly situated to explore the rustic West Coast and Swartland
including wine farms, beaches, wildlife, birdwatching and nature.

 * Sleeps up to 6 people (or 8 at a squeeze)
 * Includes all linen, towels, braai/firewood and use of 2 mountain bikes.
 * 3 bedroms, all en-suite.
 * 50% deposit required to confirm your reservation
 * Payment by bank transfer (EFT).
 * Cancellations: Over 60 days prior to arrival – full refund. 30 to 60 days
   prior to arrival – 50% of full accommodation account will be levied. Less
   than 30 days prior to arrival – full accommodation account will be levied.
   
 * Rates are subject to change without notice.
 * Pets and children welcome (the garden is securely fenced).
 * No smoking indoors please.
