 * iPhone 13 Mini in Magsafe Case

If you love iPhones but also like compact phones, the iPhone 13 Mini is as good
as small phones get. Making its entry after the Phone 12 Mini that under
performed in the market, this phone features some important improvements that
will hopefully spare it from suffering a similar fate.

Besides this, there were many rumours regarding Apple scrapping the mini series
altogether. If this is indeed true, they have at least produced one last
impressive small phone to leave us with.

If you are in the market for a powerful, yet smaller, easier-to-handle phone,
here is a closer look into what to expect with the iPhone 13 Mini.

BODY AND DIMENSIONS

The iPhone 13 Mini looks exactly like its predecessor. One of the minor changes
on this version is that the cameras at the back are aligned diagonally rather
than vertically. This phone is also slightly heavier than thicker than the 12
Mini.

The phone’s dimensions are 131.5 × 64.2 ×7.7mm. Weighing 141 grams, this mini is
encased in an aluminium frame and has Gorilla glass for both the back and front.

HOW BIG IS THE IPHONE 13 MINI SCREEN?

With the iPhone 13 Mini you get a 5.4 inch screen with 1080 × 2340 pixels made
of scratch-resistant ceramic glass.

You can get this version in starlight, midnight blue, red, pink, and blue. The
colours are gorgeous and you’ll likely opt for a clear iPhone 13 Mini case. You
can view the full range of iPhone 13 Mini accessories here.

WILL IPHONE 12 MINI CASES FIT THE IPHONE 13 MINI?

Even though the overall dimensions are very similar between the iPhone 12 Mini
and the iPhone 13 Mini the answer is, no. This is due to changes Apple made to
the iPhone 13 Mini’scamera bump, cases designed for the iPhone 12 Mini do not
fit the iPhone 13 Mini. Luckily we stock cases for all iPhones and you can view
our range of cases here for all iPhones and iPads.

STORAGE CAPACITY

The iPhone 13 Mini is available in the following memory capacities: 128GB,
256GB, 512GB

PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY

This is the part that many iPhone Mini series lovers have been holding their
breath for. Fortunately, there is some good news.

Part of the iPhone 12 Mini’s lack of popularity was due to its dismal battery
performance. Among the slight changes on this version is its battery. With the
13 Mini, you get an extra 211mAh of battery. The phone also features the A15
Bionic processor, which makes it outlast the popular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3!
Charging remains largely unchanged, with the phone hitting 58% charge at 30
minutes.

DOES IPHONE 13 MINI HAVE WIRELESS CHARGING?

There is also the MagSafe wireless charging with all iPhone 13 series phones and
this makes this iPhone Mini even more convenient. When using a compatible
MagSafe wireless charger, the iPhone 13 mini can charge at a speed of up to 15W.
But if you are charging with a standard Qi wireless charger, charging speeds are
limited to 7.5W.

DOES THE APPLE IPHONE 13 MINI COME WITH A CHARGER?

The iPhone 13 Mini ships with a just USB-C to Lightning Cable. Apple states that
in their efforts to reach their environmental goals, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13
mini do not include a power adapter or EarPods. Included in the box is a USB‑C
to Lightning Cable that supports fast charging and is compatible with USB‑C
power adapters and computer ports.

DOES IPHONE 13 MINI HAVE 5G?

Like the rest of the iPhone 13 range the Mini is 5G capable. Apple’s first
5G-compatible phones, the iPhone 12 series, came out last year in 2020.

CAMERA

Apple goes above and beyond with the pro models, and the 13 mini does not get to
that level, though it is much better than other mini-series and is the same as
the iPhone 13. Click here to see our iPhone 13 review.

DOES IPHONE 13 MINI HAVE THE SAME CAMERA?

The 13 Mini has a 12 MP, wide-angled main sensor. This camera supports Night
Mode, which captures impressive low-light shots. Part of the technology helping
enhance shots in low lighting is the sensor-shift image stabilization featured
in the iPhone 12 Pro Max in 2020.

Another feature that helps deliver spectacular photos in this phone is Apple’s
A15 Bionic. This processor is used in all the phones in the iPhone 13 range. The
iPhone 13 mini features a new image signal processor that works with machine
learning enhancements and AI in the A15 to improve the videography and
photography of this phone.

The third feature is the Photographic Styles feature, which almost applies
filters before you capture an image. This phone gives you numerous options for
video and pictures.

IS THE IPHONE 13 MINI WATERPROOF?

Apple has said the iPhone 13 Mini is splash, water, and dust-resistant and the
phone could last up to 30 minutes long in maximum depths of 6 metres.

YAY OR NAY?

Users that gave the iPhone 12 Mini the cold shoulder will likely warm up to the
13 mini. At the current iPhone mini price, this phone offers some excellent
upgrades from battery life to photography. If you are looking for a phone that
fits better in your pocket, this is a great pick.

IPHONE 13 REVIEW

10/13/2021

With the iPhone 13 having been available for a few weeks now, we thought we
would take a deeper look into what makes this device so popular.

The iPhone 13 release date was on the last week of September 2021 and featured a
few improvements from its predecessor, the iPhone 12.

They say once you go iPhone, reverting to Android almost becomes untenable.
Rightfully so. Aside from their prestige, iPhones have numerous features that
you will not find on Android.

FEATURES AND SPECS

Here is what you get with the Apple iPhone 13.

PROCESSOR

The processor in the iPhone 13 is Apple’s A15 Bionic chip, this is a new 6‑core
CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores as well as a 16-core Neural
Engine. There is also a a 4-core GPU found on the iPhone 13.

DISPLAY AND BODY

The phone has 6.1 inches of display on its 146.7mm × 71.5mm ×7.7mm body that
weighs in at 174 grams.

This is an all-screen, Super Retina XDR OLED display, backed by 1170 × 2532
pixels.

The body has a glass front and back, made of Gorilla glass and an Aluminum
frame. The display is made of scratch-resistant ceramic glass with an oleophobic
coating.

BATTERY LIFE

While Apple had made some strides with the iPhone 12 battery, the transition to
5G meant these changes were not really felt by users as the battery still
drained fairly quickly.

This has been the main concern for iPhone lovers as the iPhone 13 comes into the
market. Well, there is some good news on that end.

Apple lists 19 hours of video playback on this device and 15 for streaming. You
also get 75 hours of audio playback, with reasonably good sound.

You also do not expect to spend too much time near the charging port. The phone
comes with a fast-charging feature, and you can get your battery 50% charged in
30 minutes. With regular use, that is, calls, candy crush, social media, and so
on, this device will effortlessly take you through the day after a full charge.

The iPhone 13 has MagSafe wireless charging capability up to 15Was well as Qi
wireless charging up to 7.5W. Charging can also be done via USB to computer
system or power adapter. And the iPhone 13 is still fast-charge capable, using a
fast charger the iPhone 13 will get up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes. This is
achieved with a with 20W adapter or higher (available separately).

CAMERA

Aside from the battery life, the camera is another feature most people have paid
attention to with the iPhone 13. Rightfully so. Seeing as most people’s phones
are their constant travel companions, there is a need to have a camera worth
carrying around.

This phone’s camera is unlikely to disappoint.

The iPhone 13 features a 12MP camera, a wide-angle camera with a 1.6 aperture,
and an ultra-wide angled version with a 2.4 aperture. In addition, the cameras
on the iPhone 13 are mounted horizontally and have larger lenses which allow
more light in. This gives you better photos and better light in low-light
settings.

The phone’s camera has Smart HDR 4, which is an upgrade on lighting and
contrast. In addition, the phone’s camera has an entirely new feature;
photographic style. This lets you figure out the best style to have on a photo,
akin to filters. You can modify these before taking a photo or revert to the
original look and capture that.

CAPACITY

Apple’s iPhone 13 is available in the following memory capacities: 128GB, 256GB,
512GB.

SPLASH, WATER AND DUST RESISTANCE

The iPhone 13 is Rated IP68 (maximum depth of 6 metres up to 30 minutes) under
IEC standard 60529.

COLOURS

iPhone lovers can get the iPhone 13 in pink, midnight blue, red and starlight
white.

PRICE

As for the iPhone 13 price, you get three offers at different rates. $1,340 for
the 128GB model, $1,519 for the 256GB and $1,869 for the 512GB model.

IPHONE 13 CASES

There are many cases and accessories available for the iPhone 13. This also
includes accessories such as cables, charging adapters, MagSafe gear, power
banks, Bluetooth speakers, car kits and more.

Unlike 2020 iPhones, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, cases that fit the 6.1
inch iPhone 13 will not fit the 6.1 inch iPhone 13 Pro. In other words an iPhone
13 case will not fit an iPhone 13 Pro. This is because the camera system on the
Pro is significantly larger. Click here to see our iPhone 13 cases and
accessories. And click here to see our cases for other iPhones.

THE VERDICT

While this phone is not an entirely new creation, it’s a refinement of the
iPhone 12 and others before it. If the unimpressive sales of the iPhone 12 are
anything to go by, then the improved battery in the iPhone 13 is well worth its
price tag.

Overall, there will be little or no buyer regret on this one.

IPHONE 13 SERIES CAMERAS

The iPhone 13 series has a particular focus on improved cameras. The iPhone 13

NOKIA 225 4G MOBILE PHONE REVIEW

9/7/2021

In this century, smartphones are the talk of the town. But does it mean bar
phones are no longer important? Of course not. Nokia’s 225 4G is the latest
design and definition of a 21st-century bar phone. Going for A$78 (you can buy
the Nokia 225 4G here), the bar phone has a perfect blend of price and value as
it provides the basics of a phone plus its classic design is not that surprising
as Nokia has been a trusted brand for these types of phones. The Nokia 225 4G is
a part of Nokia’s feature phone range along with the Nokia 800 Tough (reviewed
here), the Nokia 8000 4G and the Nokia 2720 4G Flip (read the review here). In
this review, we’ll look at the Nokia 225 4G and its features.

DESIGN

The phone has a candy bar design with beautiful colour options and a glossy
finish. It’s not a little extra, but at least the finish gives it a premium
look. Nokia brought the 225 4G phone with classic blue, black, and metallic
sand. While this Nokia phone is not a smartphone, it appeals to anyone who does
not mind using a non-touchscreen device.

The display is 2.4 inches with a 240×320 screen placed just above the call and
number keys. You can remove the phone’s plastic back, where the 1150mAh battery
is located. The Australian model comes with the preinstalled memory card (16GB),
an excellent inclusion for such a price point.

In this digital age, cameras are crucial, but the Nokia 225 phone has a little
0.3MP camera- a little archaic for smartphone lovers. However, you rarely take
photos or have a separate camera, then the phone’s camera is just fine for its
type.

PERFORMANCE

The Nokia 225 feature phone operates on a System 30+ OS, which is different from
other types of Nokia devices which commonly use KaiOS. System 30+ is more
versatile and has basic software features and nods such as a Facebook app and an
Internet browser. But the 1Ghz processor available on this handset can only
accommodate limited apps, and you may not be able to add apps like WhatsApp or
Instagram. However, you can still enjoy preinstalled games like the obvious
Snake and Aussie’s household game Crossy Road.

Also, the phone does not have WiFi in any way, so if you want to stay away from
the internet while travelling, this would be an excellent phone.

BATTERY LIFE

It is no surprise that old-school phones are known for their superior battery
life, majorly due to the lack of draining apps. HMD Global claims that the 225
4G Nokia can last up to 24 days with a single SIM, 16 days with a dual SIM, and
19 hours talking with a single SIM. While we haven’t yet tested how true this
is, we believe Nokia has done enough tests to make these claims. Generally, if
you spend less time on the phone, you should have a long enough battery life.

This being a Nokia, most of the features of the 225 4G are what we saw in the
bar phone era and have little to do with 2020 or 2021 phones. However, if you
want a simple phone to help you manoeuvre through texts and calls, the Nokia 225
4G is your top choice. It has a decent price point and is an ideal seniors
phone. You can view our range of Nokia phones here as well as accessories for
all Nokia phones.

NOKIA 2720 4G FLIP PHONE REVIEW

9/2/2021

You probably remember the flip phones from the ’90s and early and mid-2000’s
vividly. The flipping motion and slamming the top down after a conversation did
have a cool factor to it.

Be that as it may, few will likely trade in their smartphones for the new
generation flip phones being manufactured today. Still, these phones can be good
secondary phones or primary phones for people without much need for the numerous
features that come with smartphones. The Nokia 2720 is a part of Nokia’s feature
phone range along with the Nokia 800 Tough, the Nokia 8000 4G and the Nokia 225
4G.

If this is something you would be interested in, the Nokia 2720 flip phone would
be a worthwhile consideration. Here is what to expect from the phone.

DESIGN

This flip phone has a sleek minimalist design that could be just what you need
and comes in black and grey.

FEATURES AND SPECS

Here is a more detailed look into the accessible features of the phone.

DISPLAY

The phone offers 2.8 QVGA inches on the main display with 240 × 320 pixels of
resolution at a 4:3 ratio. The front display is 1.3 inches. The front display
allows you to see who is texting or calling before flipping the phone open.

Closing the flip hangs up a call.

The keypad on the phone has big, clear buttons with a backlight to help you use
your phone in poor lighting. The buttons are, however, not separated, which can
be a bit clumsy for some people.

CAMERA

Unfortunately, the camera on this phone is nothing to write home about and is
incomparable to cameras on the smartphones that have taken over the market.

Still, the phone does have the main camera, which is a 2 MP single lens. This is
widely different from smartphones which come with a front camera and a selfie
camera.

You cannot do any serious photography with this camera, but it’s good enough for
casual snaps.

CONNECTIVITY

Unlike its predecessors, this Nokia flip phone has 4G network access which is a
significant addition. In addition, you also get basic internet use with the
phone as it comes equipped with Wi-Fi and Hotspot connectivity.

The phone also had GPS, a micro USB slot, and Bluetooth.

You will get some pre-installed social media apps to enable you to stay
connected on the go.

BATTERY

If you remember anything from Nokia phones from way back, it’s probably a
battery that could remain powered for days at a time.

Well, Nokia has kept this attribute alive with its Nokia 2720. The phone has a
removable 1500mAh battery that will keep you going for days on end. Moreover, it
is touted to offer 700h on standby, which is quite impressive.

STORAGE

With this phone, you get 4GB of internal storage, but you can add an extra 32GB
of external storage via an SD card.

PLATFORM

The phone uses KaiOS instead of Android, which is more commonly used today, and
a Qualcomm 205 processor.

WHO IS THIS PHONE FOR?

In the world of smartphones and tens of applications in one gadget, you might
wonder who this phone is created for.

Well, the Nokia 2720 is perfect as a kid’s first phone. It’s also an ideal go-to
phone for a more mature user looking for basic calling and texting functions.
You can buy the Nokia 2720 here as well as other Nokia phones.
