Dear Fellow Californian,

Covered California offers top-quality health plans with a wide choice of benefit
levels and the ability to qualify for financial help. The next open enrollment
period isn't until fall of 2022, but you still may be eligible for health
coverage during special enrollment with a qualifying life event. Get one step
closer to coverage – start your application for health coverage today! 

Covered California allows you to choose from a range of private brand-name
health insurance providers, like Kaiser, Blue Shield, Anthem Blue Cross, and
more. Plus, you can’t be denied if you have a pre-existing health condition.



After you complete your application, you’ll be able to see the amount of
financial help you could get, which private health insurance companies are in
your area, your health plan options including the monthly costs, co-pays, annual
deductibles, and all plan details. The amount of financial help you may receive
is based on your household size, annual income, ages of those who need coverage
and where you live (zip code). Even if you’ve checked in the past, check again
because there’s even more financial help available for health coverage in 2022.

Need help? Visit us online, call our Service Center Representatives at
800-300-1506, or speak with a Certified Enroller in your area who will answer
your questions and help you enroll.

Time is limited! For most qualifying life events, you have 60 days from the date
of your qualifying event to enroll in a health plan.

In 2022, you may be eligible to enroll in a Covered California plan at a reduced
monthly cost if your expected income is, for example, about $19,320 as a single
person or about $39,750 for a household of four at any time of the year. To view
the other household sizes, look at the 150% Federal Poverty Level (FPL) column
on this chart.

Remember: In the State of California, having health insurance for the entire
year is the law. If you don’t have it, you may have to pay a penalty, unless you
qualify for an exemption. 

If you paid a penalty on your 2021 taxes for not having health insurance, you
may be able to enroll in a health plan for 2022 during special enrollment. Just
use the qualifying life event “Paid the penalty for not having health insurance”
when you complete your application. To begin, log in to your account or create
one , then select the paid penalty qualifying life event and submit your
application.
