POST OP REHABILITATION

We are very fortunate at PFP to work alongside extremely talented Orthopaedic
and Plastic surgeons. We are experienced in individually tailoring post-surgical
rehabilitation physio protocols and progressing them according to your specific
needs alongside your specialist. We believe a multidisciplinary approach is
crucial to a patient’s recovery.

SOFT TISSUE AND MANUAL THERAPY

Manual therapy in physiotherapy involves handson techniques performed by skilled
therapists to manipulate soft tissues and joints, aiming to alleviate pain,
improve mobility, and enhance overall function. These techniques may include
joint mobilization, soft tissue manipulation, and myofascial release, tailored
to each patient’s specific needs and condition.

WOUND DRESSINGS

Wound dressings play a crucial role in hand therapy as they facilitate proper
wound healing, prevent infection, and promote optimal tissue repair. In hand
therapy, where injuries or surgical interventions are common, effective wound
management is essential to ensure optimal outcomes and minimize complications.

EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION

Exercise prescription in physiotherapy entails the tailored design and
implementation of specific therapeutic exercises to address individual patient
needs, goals, and conditions. These exercises aim to improve strength,
flexibility, balance, and overall functional capacity, playing a crucial role in
rehabilitation and promoting long-term wellness.

CUSTOM CASTING AND SPLINTING

Casting and splinting are immobilization techniques used in orthopaedic care to
stabilize and support injured bones, joints, or soft tissues.

Casting involves encasing the injured area in a rigid waterproof fiberglass
material to stabilize the injured area in proper alignment while they heal.

Custom made splinting uses a rigid or semi-rigid material (such as
thermoplastic) to support and protect injured bones or joints while allowing for
some degree of movement. Splints are often used for less severe injuries,
temporary immobilization, or to facilitate early mobilization during the healing
process.

DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is an effective and safe technique for the treatment of myofascial
pain and dysfunction used to good effect by all our physios.
