This launch is yet another testament of the importance that Tuvalu gives to participating in the digital economy. The toolkits are an invaluable resource for the Tuvalu’s private sector to transition from offline to online operations. The Tuvalu E-commerce Business Toolkits, developed under the Pacific E-commerce Initiative, cater to two key sectors: General Merchandise and Tourism. These sectors are not only vital for Tuvalu’s economy but also align with the aspirations of the Pacific Regional E-commerce Strategy and Roadmap, endorsed by Pacific Trade Ministers in 2021. The Toolkits are simple guidelines providing information on a specific country and sector(s) with the aim to assist businesses in establishing a strong online presence, expanding their customer base, and ultimately increasing sales and revenues. Tuvalu’s Director of Trade, Falaoa Sione, welcomed the new toolkits and the benefits for e-commerce, ‘Our Trade Policy Framework is inclusive and places the Private Sector at its core. The E-commerce Business Toolkits will assist micro and small businesses in leveraging online opportunities to enhance visibility, expand their customer base and increase sales. It is a product developed by Tuvaluans for Tuvaluans and perfectly aligns with our framework in the way it contributes to digital trade and growth.’ The Toolkits, which are developed thanks to the work and expertise of a local consultant, are well received by the private sectors. Lisepa Paeniu from Tuvalu Laban’s Gift Shop said, ‘I’d like to thank PIFS sincerely for the toolkits, especially as it outlines certain gaps we have never thought about in terms of refunds and other payment options to consider for the future of our online shop. I highly recommend these (Toolkits) be circulated for small business owners with no finance background like me as it’s easy to follow!’ These toolkits are part of the broader PIFS E-biz Plus Program, which aims to provide comprehensive support to Forum Island Countries in their digital transformation journey. The program is supported by the European Union (EU) through the SPIRIT project and underscores the EU’s commitment to promoting sustainable economic development in the Pacific. PIFS Director of Programmes and Initiatives, Zarak Khan, commended the work and made an announcement for other Forum Island Countries that would like to benefit from the toolkits, ‘Experience is telling us that simple products are most effective, but we do not stop here: we stand alongside the business community throughout their online journey with training workshops, coaching and grant schemes and access to an online Community of Practice for continuous support. Our work is demand driven, and following this successful collaboration with Tuvalu, we hope to expand to other Forum Island countries that may need it.’ Download Merchandise Toolkit – Using E-commerce to Sell General Merchandise in Tuvalu Download Tourism Toolkit – Using E-commerce to Help the Tourism Industry in Tuvalu Previously posted at : https://pacificecommerce.org/pifs-e-commerce-business-toolkits-empowering-private-sector-in-tuvalu/ * -ACSIS RELATED NEWS PIF * | December 17, 2024 PIFS E-Biz Plus pilot drives digital growth for Pacific MSMEs PIF * | November 12, 2024 Niue, Tonga and Vanuatu entrepreneurs get ready for e-commerce PIF * | August 19, 2024 A new forum for Development Partners will accelerate E-commerce in the Pacific Subscribe to our Newsletter yes, sign me up!
