Dwayne Harrell Jr., 28, is accused of stabbing co-worker and former partner Irene Torres, 24, outside her parents’ home in Tennessee on Jan. 29. According to investigators, the pair had gotten into a bitter argument earlier in the day and Herrel waited for Torres to return home from his shift at a bar where they worked together to exact his revenge. After plunging his blade into her more than a dozen times, Herrel allegedly stuffed Torres’ lifeless body into the trunk of his car and drove to his apartment in Bellevue, where he forced her body into a storage bin before hiding it in his closet. He then dumped Torres’ blood-soaked clothes and purse in a nearby dumpster, detectives said. Dwayne Harrell Jr., 28, is accused of stabbing co-worker and former partner Irene Torres, 24. This photo taken from Facebook shows Torres and Herrele together Herrel is a former kickboxer and MMA fighter In a packed Tennessee courtroom on Feb. 15, Detective Derry Baltimore of the Metro Nashville Police Department showed home surveillance footage of the attack to the judge and the defense. Several attendees at the hearing were colleagues of both the suspect and the victim, and some could not hold back tears as they heard the description of the Baltimore stabbing. ‘They got into an argument and he started stabbing her and after stabbing her he threw her in the trunk of his car,’ Baltimore said. Baltimore said he was present for Torres’ autopsy, which revealed defense wounds to his body. ‘As I stood there with the doctor I was told that he had been stabbed over 17 times,’ recalls Baltimore. When Torres’ parents realized she hadn’t returned home after her shift, they checked their security camera footage to find that their daughter had been shot and dragged away by a man they believed to be Harle. The pair had broken up a month earlier and Torres’ father, suspecting Herrel was involved, went to the man’s house to confront him. Police said Herrel initially told them her daughter was staying at a hotel, before allegedly confessing to the murder. Harele is seen in this picture taken from social media. Torres’ family members have accused their relationship of being abusive Reyna Douglas, Torres’ older sister, wrote on a GoFundMe page set up for the victim’s funeral expenses that Harrell conducted a calculated attack. In the early hours of January 29, 2023, Irene’s ex-boyfriend Dwayne was hiding and waiting for her to come home from work. When Irene arrives home, her ex-boyfriend attacks her from behind. ‘He was repeatedly dragged in front of his parents’ house and stabbed. Dwayne then took Irene’s lifeless body and drove her across the county and dumped her in a plastic bin in his closet,’ Douglas said, adding that their relationship was abusive. Irene suffered months of physical and emotional abuse during her relationship with Dwayne. On December 29, 2022, Dwayne made the daring decision to run away while he was at work, and returned to his parents’ house in the middle of the night, terrified and exhausted. ‘For those who had the good fortune to know Irene, despite being terrified, abused and in fear, she always had a smile on her face and something to admire. Her kindness will always be remembered,’ read Douglas’ tribute to her sister. The case was dismissed and Herrel will appear before a grand jury at an unspecified date.
