OVERVIEW

Details

Our ~90 students per year have or will develop the following skills:

 1. Programming:            Python, SQL, NoSQL, Airflow, Pytorch, NumPy, Pandas,
Plotly, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Spacy, Scipy, Selenium
 2. Machine Learning:        Regression, Classification, Unsupervised Learning,
Deep Learning, NLP, Transformers, Large Language Models (LLM)
 3. Big Data/Databases:       PySpark, SparkSQL, ETL, Spark, MongoDB, Git,
    Databricks
 4. Cloud/ MLOps:            AWS (SageMaker, EC2, EMR, S3), Docker, Flask
 5. Experimentation:      Causal Inference, A/B Testing, Hypothesis Testing,
    Statistical Inference, Experimental Design

Student capabilities (outcomes for companies) spanning 6 years can be found
here:

Deliverables
 1. Resume: 3 strong resume bullet points showcasing what the students
accomplished with respect to time or revenue

Examples from our previous cohort:

 1. Developed a comprehensive, model-agnostic Python package for model
validation, decreasing runtime and computation costs by 80% for __(company
name)__ core ML and Data Engineering teams.
 2. Developed an LLM pipeline leveraging an API that can generate comprehensive
document analysis for over 1,000 pages of environmental policy, which has
savings potential of up to $400,000 for __(company name)__ in consulting
    fees.
 3. Implemented app's first machine learning model: personalized recommender
system, increasing content engagement by 31%.
 4. Built data pipeline for user logs in JSON to data lake (BigQuery) to
increase query speed, saving 100+ engineering hours yearly.
 5. Drove A/B testing on a new workflow and presented adverse results to
executives, preventing reduction in WAU by 44%.

PROJECT EXAMPLES

 1. Projects: Project or project(s) must be Data Science, GenAI, LLMs, Data
Engineering or Machine Learning Engineering only. If data science, we expect
the data science life cycle to be covered including data cleaning, data
visualization/statistics, data modeling (prediction), and, if possible,
deployment -- We do not accept projects for data collection and/or data
    visualization only.
 2. Timing: October to June (8-9 month) project(s) / 16~20 hours a week / Monday
and Wednesday are dedicated working days for onsite/hybrid/remote work.
 3. Company Mentorship: Technical person on the company side who spends at least
30 minutes each week doing a check-in with the student.

Want to schedule a call?

Here is my email as well.

Before we accept any proposals, we have an intake form to better understand your
needs and to communicate your expected work to the students uniformly for all
projects found on Riipen.

Feel free to do the form before or after scheduling a call if needed. Thank you!

ADDITIONAL COMPANY CRITERIA

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this
experience:

What is the size of your data (roughly)? If varying, state range. Thank you.

Where is the data located?

Python is the sole programming language used in our program. Will your
organization allow students to only use Python?

Will you have a project(s) that span(s) 8-9 months?
