ABOUT


ERIC J PLEASANT

           Hello, My name is Eric Pleasant, better known to many as Eric The
Redd. I was born and raised in the big city of jazz, New Orleans, where my roots
and music style originate. I was musically influenced by local jazz and blues
musicians, including the talents of Fats Domino, Louis Armstrong, Harry Conick,
Jr., Mahalia Jackson and more. Other musical influences in my musical career are
the soulful grooves of Motown, including The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and
Marvin Gaye, stories & sounds of Bob Marley’s reggae, and the percussion
artistry of master congueros & djembefolas. I am experienced in many different
type of hand drums, including djembe, doumbek, congas and bongos, cajon, and
several other percussion instruments. I have many years of drumming experience,
but I have to say that my biggest gift is my soul’s connection to all of the
various music genres. You see, I play the rhythm that comes from my soul. I
believe that one can have many musical influences and be taught by master
musicians, but what I play & teach students is to connect to the music from the
soul. I will teach you the basics and more of drumming and percussion, but I
will also teach you how to truly connect to the heart of the music you create.
