Commercially manufactured soaps strip away natural glycerin during production and replace it with surfactants and chemicals. Handmade soap preserves this natural glycerin, which helps retain moisture and protect your skin. What other benefits do these soap ingredients give my skin? I use coconut oil prominently in my products, along with olive oil, and locally sourced lard and tallow for some items or special orders. Coconut and olive oils are known for their moisturizing properties and create a luxurious lather. Surprisingly, lard and tallow offer similar benefits, plus they make the soap bars harder and longer-lasting. Are custom creations expensive? A basic custom soap with a single color, scent, and my standard recipe is quite affordable for handmade soap. You'll receive at least three bars per batch for about $30, including tax, shipping, or local delivery. More complex designs, scents, or changes to the base recipe may cost more. How long does it take for a custom creation? Most products can be made and shipped within a week. However, soap bars require at least 4 weeks to ship due to curing times.
