Michigan legislature regarding entheogenic plants: Senate Bill 499 (2023), introduced by Senator Jeff Irwin, focuses on decriminalizing the use and possession of certain psychedelic substances. The bill wouldn't legalize the commercial sale or production of these entheogens, but it would exempt individuals from penalties for possession, use, and noncommercial manufacturing, processing, and delivery. Some details of the bill: Substances affected: Psilocybin, psilocyn, dimethyltryptamine (DMT), ibogaine, and mescaline, including the plants and fungi containing them. Activities not penalized: Possession, use, noncommercial manufacturing, processing, and gifting. It's important to note that this bill is still in the early stages.
