The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) at the University of Bern
provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and carries out
interdisciplinary research in the fields of social and behavioural health,
clinical epidemiology and biostatistics, and international and environmental
health. Eminent speakers from Switzerland and abroad give presentations at
monthly lectures where researchers from other institutes and members of the
public are welcome to attend.

ISPM ANNUAL REPORT 2023 ONLINE

Looking back on 2023, we are once again proud of the many successful and
interesting projects and teaching activities conducted by the people of
Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine. This report highlights some of
these projects.
As in previous years, the 2023 ISPM annual report shows the very broad thematic
range of topics we engage. This diversity is also reflected in the teaching of
ISPM lecturers.

WINNER OF THE SWISS REPRODUCIBILITY AWARDS 2024

Virginia Chiocchia, postdoctoral researcher in the Evidence Synthesis Methods
group led by Professor Georgia Salanti, received the award for Swiss
Reproducibility Award 2024 for Early Career Researchers in the category biology
and medicine.

ORAL PRESENTATION AWARDS AT THE 2024 SWISS PULMONOLOGY CONFERENCE

Leonie Schreck received the 1st and Beatriz Guerra Buezo the 2nd prize for the
Best Oral presentations on Paediatric Pneumonology research at the 2024 joint
annual meeting of the Swiss Societies of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery in
Baden.
