In Wendy’s famous “Where’s the Beef?” commercial, the burger chain argued that
it gave consumers more bang for their buck than other fast-food restaurants.
Nearly 40 years later, the same could be said for Wendy’s stock.

Wendy’s (ticker: WEN) shares are down about 7% this year, and it’s easy to see
why investors are skeptical of restaurants in general. Inflation is pushing up
food and labor prices at the same time that gas prices have spiked and consumers

If you squint, it’s possible to see a world after the Ukraine war swimming into
view. The Russian advance has largely stalled, according to the Pentagon.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday that peace talks are
becoming “more realistic.” Has Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war reached a
turning point?

One of the world’s leading Russia-watchers, Angela Stent, offered a rundown on
the situation. Her takeaways:

Stent is a professor at Georgetown University and a senior fellow at the
Brookings Institution. She was formerly a national intelligence officer for
Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council. Her latest book is
Putin’s World: Russia Against the Rest and With the West. She spoke by phone on
Wednesday. This transcript of the conversation has been condensed and edited for
