Activist hedge fund Elliott Management is pushing for big changes at Suncor
Energy, claiming that the Canadian oil producer suffers from an “overly
bureaucratic corporate culture.”

In a letter to the board of Suncor (ticker: SU) Thursday, Elliott disclosed a
3.4% stake in the company and called on it to add five new independent directors
to assist in a review of the company’s management structure.
