Planet Ice owns ice rinks in a number of major centres, including Bristol Ice Rink at Cribbs Causeway. In an email sent out this week, the ice rink operator said only non-financial data has been stolen. This means personal details such as names, addresses and passwords have been stolen by fraudsters. Planet Ice has warned customers that they should not reply to any further emails about the breach and such emails should be treated as suspicious. The email stated: “We believe personal information about you may have been unlawfully accessed or affected by this date security incident”, highlighting that financial data is handled by a different company and could not have been accessed during the breach. But it warned : “Individuals or organisations with access to your data may attempt to use your data” and recommended that customers reset passwords on email systems used to communicate with the ice rink and to ensure personal anti-virus software is up to date.
