MERCURY BRIDGE GUIDELINES To help participants get as much value as possible out of these sessions, we’ve created some general guidelines for all participants to follow. We’ll start every session by reviewing these guidelines. * Participate actively. 1. Join with video if feasible 2. Focus on the meeting and topic 3. Treat information shared in the group with confidentiality 4. Prioritize attendance: participants that miss more than two consecutive sessions will be removed from the group * Be authentic and candid. 1. Prepare for the group discussion by reflecting on your current needs 2. Lead with your personal experiences rather than with advice * Stay curious and respectful. 1. Ask questions and actively listen to your peers 2. Respect different backgrounds, experiences, and opinions FAQS Mercury Bridge peer groups will begin meeting in late March for a total of five sessions (meeting every other week) through May 2023. We’ll also connect peer groups via Slack to enable conversation and networking beyond formal peer group meetings. By their last peer group session, we hope participants will have developed thoughtful relationships with peers that they can continue to lean on throughout their entrepreneurial journeys. * WHO SHOULD APPLY? We encourage founders of pre-seed or seed companies — as well as early-stage operators — to apply for Mercury Bridge if they are interested in building meaningful connections and sharing authentic experiences. Be prepared to attend group sessions every other week at a designated time. You don't have to be a Mercury customer to apply, nor from a specific industry or country. * WHEN WILL APPLICANTS HEAR BACK? We will send invites to accepted applicants by mid-March. If you are interested in joining a peer group, we encourage you to proactively block the time on your calendar. See above for planned group sessions. * HOW WILL APPLICANTS BE SELECTED? We're looking for founders and early-stage operators who want to build genuine connections with their peers. To apply, just tell us more about you, including why you're interested in our program, your company, and which specific groups you would like to be considered for. We’ll prioritize applications received by March 1, 2023. * HOW WILL GROUPS BE ASSIGNED? We will match participants into groups of 8–10 based on their interest, availability, and company information, while also preserving a diverse range of expertise across each group. We will do our best to create groups of companies in similar verticals but will also avoid placing direct competitors in the same group. * WHEN WILL MERCURY BRIDGE TAKE PLACE? See above for detailed group schedules. Groups will meet every other week in two cohorts: Cohort 1: The weeks of March 20–24, April 3–7, April 17–21, May 1–5, and May 15–19. Cohort 2: The weeks of March 27–31, April 10–14, April 24–28, May 8–12, and May 22–26. If you are accepted into a peer group, please plan to attend each session. We know last-minute meetings and emergencies occur (especially for founders and early-stage operators), but we ask that you communicate with your peer group as soon as you know that you cannot attend. * IS MERCURY BRIDGE FREE? Yes, applying for and participating in Mercury Bridge is free. * HOW WILL EACH SESSION BE FORMATTED? Each hour-long session will begin with individual introductions and updates, followed by a discussion related to that week’s designated topic and participants’ corresponding experiences. For any remaining time, the facilitator will help the group prioritize deeper discussions on related themes and topics. Topics for each session will depend on group members’ common interests. Topics may include: — Valuation trends: How are founders thinking about their raise and valuation? — Fundraising: What does the current fundraising process look like and how long is it taking? — Hiring tips: How do you build a leadership team? — Product development: How should you think about outsourcing and customer discovery? — Founder mental wellness: How can you stay grounded and deal with setbacks? * WHY ARE YOU LAUNCHING MERCURY BRIDGE? Being a founder or early-stage operator can be isolating, but it doesn’t need to be. Our goal with Mercury Bridge is to help founders and early-stage operators build a peer community — regardless of geography, sector, or resource limitations.
