common? The physics behind their twisted shapes can be explained using a
theoretical framework developed over nearly two decades by Physics Professor
Arshad Kudrolli’s research team.

Hamed Alemohammad, director of Clark’s Center for Geospatial Analytics, and six
graduate students partnered with NASA and IBM to produce the world’s first

As an immigrant child, Betsy Huang connected with Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” where
Bilbo Baggins leaves his home. Now an English professor, Huang recognizes
Tolkien’s problematic nativism. Still, his novel inspired her to specialize in
critiquing science fiction narratives.

filmmaking, her Clark influences, and her goals for enhancing and advancing her
art during the International Conference of Hispanic Women Filmmakers held on
campus last semester.

Clark University
As a public defender and then as a private-practice lawyer in Worcester,
Margaret Guzman ’89 proved to be a fierce advocate for her clients, someone
you’d want on your side in the courtroom.
Later, as a Massachusetts District Court judge, she carefully weighed the
evidence and the arguments presented to her before rendering decisions from the
bench in courtrooms throughout the state. She was very good at her job and could
easily have kept at it until retirement.
Then, the President of the United States came calling.
This summer, Guzman was sworn in as a United States District Court Judge —
becoming the first person of Hispanic heritage to serve as a federal judge in
Massachusetts.
