Dual Enrollment students can earn college credit while they are still in high school. Students can attend courses at a CSM campus or at their local high school. There is no cost to the (public school) student for courses approved by the public school system in the student’s county of residence, during the fall and spring semesters. There is a 25% tuition discount for courses taken during the summer and winter terms. Students who register for a course that is not on the approved list are responsible for the tuition and fees and receive a 25% tuition discount. Homeschool students are eligible to receive a 25% discount on tuition if they report to the Board of Education or an MSDE-approved umbrella organization. Private school students and out-of-county students will be granted a 25% tuition waiver while in the program. Students who participate have full access to all college services including clubs, free tutoring, learning support workshops, library resources, and workout rooms. After completing high school, students can either use the credits earned through Dual Enrollment towards the completion of a program of study at CSM, or submit their CSM transcript to other colleges and universities for evaluation and possible transfer. Helpful information about the transfer process can be found here. Textbook Purchase Instructions STEPS TO ENROLL IF YOU'RE TAKING CLASSES AT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL Dual Enrollment classes are offered in many local high schools through exciting partnerships with the school or school district. Through these partnerships, students taking eligible classes taught in their high school can receive college credit for successful course completion if they choose to participate in the Dual Enrollment program and complete the registration process below. Students taking eligible classes are able to participate regardless of their grade level. Because instruction for these classes takes place in the high school classroom, students will not need to come to the college campus for these classes. Examples of these dual enrollment courses are Honors Composition and Rhetoric, Pre-Calculus, and Algebra III. Students can speak to their high school counselor to determine what Dual Enrollment classes may be offered at their particular school. This opportunity is not the same as the College Board's AP program. CSM now provides a convenient online registration process for Dual Enrollment classes taken in the high schools using DualEnroll.com. Registration for dual credit for these eligible high school classes occurs midway through the student's academic school year. Students will have the ability to complete the following steps during that time. 1. CREATE A DUALENROLL ACCOUNT Create a DualEnroll Account Here Students will click the "Create My Account" button and follow the prompts to complete the creation of their account. It is important for students to use a personal, non-high school email address for this account. 2. COMPLETE THE ADMISSIONS APPLICATION WITHIN DUALENROLL Students will be asked to confirm their account and, once confirmed, will complete an admissions application within DualEnroll. 3. REQUEST COURSE REGISTRATION WITHIN DUALENROLL After completing the application, students will see a list of CSM courses equivalent to the dual courses offered at their high school. Students will find the course and locate the course that matches what they are currently enrolled in at the high school, and click "Register" to start the registration process. This starts an approval process in which the students high school instructor can verify that the student meets all eligibility requirements to participate in Dual Enrollment, and no further action is required from the student. CSM will then process the course registration, and send an email confirmation to students when registration is complete. A walk-through of the registration process can be found here. It is important that the student is monitoring the email address they included on their application. Please be sure to use a personal email address and not a school email address when creating a DualEnroll account.
