But does it mean bar phones are no longer important? Of course not. Nokia’s 225 4G is the latest design and definition of a 21st-century bar phone. Going for A$78 (you can buy the Nokia 225 4G here), the bar phone has a perfect blend of price and value as it provides the basics of a phone plus its classic design is not that surprising as Nokia has been a trusted brand for these types of phones. The Nokia 225 4G is a part of Nokia’s feature phone range along with the Nokia 800 Tough (reviewed here), the Nokia 8000 4G and the Nokia 2720 4G Flip (read the review here). In this review, we’ll look at the Nokia 225 4G and its features. DESIGN The phone has a candy bar design with beautiful colour options and a glossy finish. It’s not a little extra, but at least the finish gives it a premium look. Nokia brought the 225 4G phone with classic blue, black, and metallic sand. While this Nokia phone is not a smartphone, it appeals to anyone who does not mind using a non-touchscreen device. The display is 2.4 inches with a 240×320 screen placed just above the call and number keys. You can remove the phone’s plastic back, where the 1150mAh battery is located. The Australian model comes with the preinstalled memory card (16GB), an excellent inclusion for such a price point. In this digital age, cameras are crucial, but the Nokia 225 phone has a little 0.3MP camera- a little archaic for smartphone lovers. However, you rarely take photos or have a separate camera, then the phone’s camera is just fine for its type. PERFORMANCE The Nokia 225 feature phone operates on a System 30+ OS, which is different from other types of Nokia devices which commonly use KaiOS. System 30+ is more versatile and has basic software features and nods such as a Facebook app and an Internet browser. But the 1Ghz processor available on this handset can only accommodate limited apps, and you may not be able to add apps like WhatsApp or Instagram. However, you can still enjoy preinstalled games like the obvious Snake and Aussie’s household game Crossy Road. Also, the phone does not have WiFi in any way, so if you want to stay away from the internet while travelling, this would be an excellent phone. BATTERY LIFE It is no surprise that old-school phones are known for their superior battery life, majorly due to the lack of draining apps. HMD Global claims that the 225 4G Nokia can last up to 24 days with a single SIM, 16 days with a dual SIM, and 19 hours talking with a single SIM. While we haven’t yet tested how true this is, we believe Nokia has done enough tests to make these claims. Generally, if you spend less time on the phone, you should have a long enough battery life. This being a Nokia, most of the features of the 225 4G are what we saw in the bar phone era and have little to do with 2020 or 2021 phones. However, if you want a simple phone to help you manoeuvre through texts and calls, the Nokia 225 4G is your top choice. It has a decent price point and is an ideal seniors phone. You can view our range of Nokia phones here as well as accessories for all Nokia phones. The flipping motion and slamming the top down after a conversation did have a cool factor to it. Be that as it may, few will likely trade in their smartphones for the new generation flip phones being manufactured today. Still, these phones can be good secondary phones or primary phones for people without much need for the numerous features that come with smartphones. The Nokia 2720 is a part of Nokia’s feature phone range along with the Nokia 800 Tough, the Nokia 8000 4G and the Nokia 225 4G. If this is something you would be interested in, the Nokia 2720 flip phone would be a worthwhile consideration. Here is what to expect from the phone. DESIGN This flip phone has a sleek minimalist design that could be just what you need and comes in black and grey. FEATURES AND SPECS Here is a more detailed look into the accessible features of the phone. DISPLAY The phone offers 2.8 QVGA inches on the main display with 240 × 320 pixels of resolution at a 4:3 ratio. The front display is 1.3 inches. The front display allows you to see who is texting or calling before flipping the phone open. Closing the flip hangs up a call. The keypad on the phone has big, clear buttons with a backlight to help you use your phone in poor lighting. The buttons are, however, not separated, which can be a bit clumsy for some people. CAMERA Unfortunately, the camera on this phone is nothing to write home about and is incomparable to cameras on the smartphones that have taken over the market. Still, the phone does have the main camera, which is a 2 MP single lens. This is widely different from smartphones which come with a front camera and a selfie camera. You cannot do any serious photography with this camera, but it’s good enough for casual snaps. CONNECTIVITY Unlike its predecessors, this Nokia flip phone has 4G network access which is a significant addition. In addition, you also get basic internet use with the phone as it comes equipped with Wi-Fi and Hotspot connectivity. The phone also had GPS, a micro USB slot, and Bluetooth. You will get some pre-installed social media apps to enable you to stay connected on the go. BATTERY If you remember anything from Nokia phones from way back, it’s probably a battery that could remain powered for days at a time. Well, Nokia has kept this attribute alive with its Nokia 2720. The phone has a removable 1500mAh battery that will keep you going for days on end. Moreover, it is touted to offer 700h on standby, which is quite impressive. STORAGE With this phone, you get 4GB of internal storage, but you can add an extra 32GB of external storage via an SD card. PLATFORM The phone uses KaiOS instead of Android, which is more commonly used today, and a Qualcomm 205 processor. WHO IS THIS PHONE FOR? In the world of smartphones and tens of applications in one gadget, you might wonder who this phone is created for. Well, the Nokia 2720 is perfect as a kid’s first phone. It’s also an ideal go-to phone for a more mature user looking for basic calling and texting functions. You can buy the Nokia 2720 here as well as other Nokia phones. Indeed, Oppo phones have today cemented their place as genuine, affordable, and reliable options to rival more known brands. This can be attributed to a couple of reasons, including the wide variety of options Oppo provides its users. With the different phones at different budgets, there is practically something for everyone. The latest releases are the Reno 4 Series that hit the market within months of each other in 2020. This series has the Reno4 5G and the Reno4 Z 5G. Here is a detailed look at the Reno4 5G and the Reno4 Z 5G. DESIGN At 7.8mm thickness, you get a slim body with clean lines and unpretentious contours that provide a comfortable grip. Both the Reno4 and the Reno4 Z are 5G equipped and retail at $799 and $599 respectively in Australia. DISPLAY The Reno4 Z has a 6.5 LCD screen, while the Reno 4 has a 6.4 AMOLED screen display. The Reno4 Z has an all-in-one energy-saving chip , strong performance and low energy consumption. If you cannot stand another 3-D dual-curved shaped phone, not to worry, as this phone features a more balanced geometric 2.5 D curved casing. The Reno 4 has a 2.5D curved screen, and its AMOLED screen minimizes blue light protecting your eyes while still delivering great detail and clarity. Both phones have a resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels with a 20:9 ratio. DIMENSIONS The Reno 4’s dimensions are 160 × 73.9 × 77mm (6.31 × 2.91 × 0.30in). The phone weighs 169 grams and features a glass front encased in a plastic frame and plastic back. The Reno 4Z is slightly larger at 163.8 × 75.5 ×8.1 mm (6.45 × 2.97 × 0.32 in). It’s also heavier at 184 grams. Both phones in this series have a dual sim with dual standby and Nano-SIM. This is adequate memory for most heavy users. Both phones have non-removable batteries with Li-Po 4015 and 4000 mAh for the Reno 4 and Reno 4Z, respectively. CAMERA Expect a powerful main camera on both phones with 48MP. LED flash, panorama, and HDR. YAY OR NAY? This is a definitive yes! The Oppo Reno4 is exactly what Oppo has fashioned itself to produce: stylish, powerful, and affordable. As far as mobile phones go, Samsung has not sat on its hands. Instead, the company has kept its eye on the market pulse and is adapting quickly. One way this is visible is through the Samsung Galaxy enterprise edition. WHAT IS SAMSUNG GALAXY ENTERPRISE EDITION? Samsung enterprise devices are essentially designed for businesses. However, this does not mean the products, designs, or performance is different. On the contrary, regular customers can buy and use these devices, only that they are sold as a package. These come with a Suite of software and hardware-focused at solving business mobility needs more than they do for individual Samsung mobile phone users. Granted, a business can buy individual consumer phones and tablets for business use. However, these will have some blind spots and will not address issues such as: * Group use security * Supporting dual profiles, that is, personal and work profiles * Business financing * Life-cycle management * Maximizing productivity * 24/ 7 business support WHAT TO EXPECT Here is a more detailed look at some of the key highlights from the Samsung galaxy enterprise edition. KNOX FOR ENTERPRISE One of the key concerns for businesses today is the security of their network. Lapses in this can lead to security breaches that are inconveniencing, embarrassing and expensive. Knox for enterprises is a suite for end-to-end device security. This includes an array of automatic deployment tools and security governance. DESKTOP EXPERIENCE (DEX) The Desktop eXperience gives you just that-the opportunity to work on a smaller gadget just as you would on a PC. All you need is to add a mouse /keyboard and monitor. MICROSOFT PARTNERSHIP The Galaxy enterprise edition has a closer partnership with Microsoft. This offers access to Microsoft 365 productivity tools. It also offers a link to windows and a seamless overflow between PC and mobile. FINANCE OPTIONS Businesses get ample financial support. This is everything from Microsoft Azure services, and fleet management. BUSINESS RUGGED Because business is not always carried out in swanky offices, business devices sometimes require toughness to suit their environment. This is what Samsung has tried to do with the Samsung rugged phones such as the Galaxy Xcover Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5. Samsung tough phones are built to withstand harsh conditions, with supporting features like dust and water resistance. In the Galaxy Tab Active series, devices include Tab Active 3, Tab S7, and Tab Active Pro. Besides water and dust resistance, these come with replaceable batteries and drop resistance. Their sensitivity settings come good enough to allow workers to get work done on their gadgets with gloves on. Think portable, compact, tough, and sturdy enough to go from your office to harsh job sites without skipping a beat. THE TAKE-AWAY What you get with the Samsung Galaxy Enterprise Edition phones is the ability to take your business where the traditional PC can’t go. Other features like its no battery mode allow employees to keep working in situations where you would otherwise be cut off from your device, work, and productivity. The tech powerhouse has so far offered users several 5G-enabled phones. The newer ones in this line being the Oppo A54 5G and the Oppo A74 5G, which are part of the manufacturer’s A series. These were released in April 2021. Which one has an edge above the other? First, let’s look at these two phones side by side to get a clearer picture. OPPO A54 5G VS. OPPO A74 5G These handsets are available in Australia at $399 for the A54 5G and $449 for the A74 5G. SIMILARITIES Both phones are on the same GSM/HSPA/LTE/5G network. The phones are similar in size and rather difficult to tell apart. They share the same dimensions at 162.9 × 74.7 × 8.4 mm (6.41 × 2.94 × 0.33 in). Both weigh 190 grams as well. You also get the same display type and resolution with either phone. The phones have an LTPS IPS LCE 90Hz with 480 nits. The screen is more than adequate at 6.5 inches by 102cm2, offering an 83.8% screen-to-body ratio. Whether you are big on gaming or streaming, the 1080 ×2400 pixels at a 20:9 ratio will undoubtedly deliver an enjoyable experience. The A54 and A74 run on similar platforms; Android 11 and ColorOS 11.1. The same goes for their uniform Qualcomm SM4350 and Snapdragon 480 5G. The phone’s CPUs and GPUs are similar as well. With a 480 processor on both, you expect fast navigation and access to 5G, which is the new kid on the block. Their main front cameras are similar as well, with 48MP, both feature panorama and LED flash. Users also get similar video specs at 1080p @ 30fps. Both also offer powerful 16MP selfie cameras with panorama. The battery on both is a 5000 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery. Another rather cool feature on both versions is the side fingerprint sensor. Sensors have moved around quite a bit, with traditional ones located at the front before moving to the back. The A54 and A74 are among the premier phones having the fingerprint sensor on the side. DIFFERENCES With the different price points, some differences are also expected. The first one is the capacity. The A74 comes with a larger memory of 128GB and 6GB RAM. Its counterpart has 64GB and 4GB RAM. Both have a micro SD slot. Their colors differ as well. You will get the A74 in space silver and fluid black. The Oppo A54 comes in fluid black, space silver, and fantastic purple. The phone’s SIM options differ as well. The slightly pricier A74 is a dual SIM with a Nano-SIM and dual standby. On the other hand, the A54 is a single SIM phone, and users have to choose either the Nano SIM or Dual SIM. OPPO A54 OR OPPO A74? Which one comes out on top? As you can see, the minimal differences are reflective of the differences in cost as well. Both phones will handle equally well for most users, save for those with higher memory and storage requirements. There is no catch on either pick; you will get an exceptional phone at great value! The post Oppo A54 5G And The Oppo A74 5G appeared first on Campad Electronics Blog. source https://www.campadelectronics.com.au/blog/?p=4298 * Open in app * Facebook * Tweet * Reddit * Mail * Embed * Permalink OPPO A15 REVIEW Released on 27th October 2020, the Oppo A15 was among the final releases of the year from the electronics giant. The phone is considered to be among one of the manufacturer’s more affordable phones. But, of course, with affordability at $239 retail, the common assumption is that you have to give up most of what you would want in a phone. However, with the Oppo A15, this is not entirely true as it packs quite the punch even at its price. Here are some of its main highlights. OPPO A15 REVIEW: FEATURES AND SPECS AT A GLANCE Here is a snapshot of some of the features: * 6.5 inch LCD + HD display * Fingerprint scanner and facial recognition options for phone unlocking * 32 GB storage that can be extended to 265 GB of storage * Triple rear camera set up, with 5MP front-facing selfie camera * 3GB RAM * Mystery blue and Dynamic black colour options * 4230 mAh battery * Octa-core processor FUNCTIONALITY AND DESIGN The phone in either black or blue looks stunningly beautiful for what you expect of a phone in this price range. The finish is plasticky but has a metallic matte finish. Gamers and people that use their phones for entertainment a lot will love its 6.5 inches. For a phone on the larger side, the Oppo A15 weighs 75 grams which is fairly light. Its design also makes it easy to hold, even for people with smaller hands. As a result, discomfort or slipping is not much of a concern. The HD+LCD display with 60Hz is bright and performs well. In addition, the phone’s auto-brightness is seamless and intuitive, which is a useful feature to have on the go. PERFORMANCE This device is powered by an octa-core processor with hyper boost 2.1. It comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage and 3GB of RAM that is significantly extendable. The performance might be a bit slow when loading web and social media pages, but nothing too noticeable. Overall, for its price point, its performance is adequate. Similarly, do not expect the fluid swipes of an iPhone when using the gesture command features on the phone. While the phone’s charging is a bit slow at around two hours to get fully powered, you can get about two days of use once powered. An overnight charge can make its charging requirements less noticeable. For audio, the phone has a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm jack node. CAMERAS You get a triple rear camera with a 13MP main camera lens, 2MP depth lanes, and a 2MP macro lens with this phone. The front camera is a teardrop notch-styled 5MP lens. This has HDR, panorama, night mode, and Portrait Bokeh. You also get video with basic functions. Unfortunately, Oppo A15 will not produce sharp, detailed photos but will do a decent job and provide fair photos indoors and outdoors. OPPO A15: HIT OR MISS While this Oppo phone does have some downsides on its camera and performance, it’s still good value for its price mark. This phone is especially nice for kids and seniors with basic phone use requirements. Its battery life, aesthetics, handling, and photos would work great for this demographic. The post Oppo A15 Review appeared first on Campad Electronics Blog. source https://www.campadelectronics.com.au/blog/?p=4289 * Open in app * Facebook * Tweet * Reddit * Mail * Embed * Permalink OPPO A54 5G REVIEW Oppo is quickly becoming the go-to for good quality, affordable phones. Among their latest releases is the Oppo A54 5G that does not deviate from this trend. This phone, released on April 14, 2021, enjoys a number of enviable features, including 5G support. Many people are uncertain about the need for a 5G phone right now, with the coverage in the country not being on the level it should be at just yet. Still, there is a lot more to enjoy on the Oppo A54 5G phone. What are some of its most attractive features? Read on! HANDLING The phone has nicely placed buttons and is easy to hold and manipulate, even for small hands and younger users. The right-hand side has the power and unlock buttons, while volume controls are on the left side. The fingerprint sensor is at the font, unlike most phones which have this at the back. At the top left corner of the phone is the 16MP selfie. This is a small, un-distracting punch hole tucked away on one end. Without a fingerprint sensor, the only features at the back are the camera lenses, which are noticeable but not jarring. While the main camera is good enough, the secondary colours are nothing to write home about and lack the optical zoom feature. The cameras also underperform in low light. You can get the Oppo A54 5G in Fantastic Purple or Fluid Black. The phone’s plastic matte casing also changes colours when you tilt it against the light, which is fun. DISPLAY The phone’s 1080 x 2400 IPS LCD screen sits on the phone’s 6.5-inch body. The display is edge to edge, making it perfect for gamers and people who love stream content. In addition, its 1080x 2400 resolution gives you fresh, crisp images that enhance the experience. The screen is colourful, bright with 100% DCI-P3 Gamut and Gentle 100% +SRGB, which are rather surprising for the phone’s price. In addition, it has a 90 HZsetting offering a 180HZ touch sensitivity. BATTERY LIFE A 5000mAhbattery that does not require consistent charging butwithout the need to charge it regularly. From this, you get 27 hours of calling time, 13 hours of video viewing and can do 40 hours on standby. With its super power-saving mode, you can get 1.1 hours of chatting on WhatsApp at 5% battery power. Fully powered, the phone can last an entire day, even with heavy use. PERFORMANCE AND SPECS The Oppo A54 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480. This is basically an 8-core chipset manufactured using an 8-nanometer process technology. This chipset makes the phone more inspiring, though it’s 4GB of RAM and slows the phone down significantly. You can still multitask on it, but heavy-duty multitasking can create a lag. It only comes with Tik-Tok pre-installed, making it ideal for someone looking for a phone they can customize for themselves. YAY OR NAY? This phone is very similar to Oppo’s A74 5G we reviewed earlier but the A74 has more RAM as well as more storage and also has an 18W fast charger for just $49 more. The A54 5G lacks the powerful cameras we see in most phones today. As mentioned above it also does not have the fast charging feature nor wireless charging. However, if you need a reliable phone with a fair battery life and not too fussy about photography, this phone would be a great buy at around $385.99 to $399.99. The post Oppo A54 5G Review appeared first on Campad Electronics Blog. source https://www.campadelectronics.com.au/blog/?p=4285 * Open in app * Facebook * Tweet * Reddit * Mail * Embed * Permalink OPPO A74 5G REVIEW The Oppo A74 5G was released on 13th April 2021, a day before the Oppo A54 5G was released. Just like the Oppo A54 5G, this phone has the futuristic 5G that will hopefully be fully accessible in all parts of Australia soon. While you wait on that, there are loads more features to love and enjoy about the Oppo A74 5G phone. What makes the A74 5G one of the most desirable Oppo phones of 2021? Find out here. FIRST THINGS FIRST: THE LOOK This phone offers a lot for its price range but maintains a simple plastic casing on its sides and back. Still, this is acceptable for a 5G phone. You get two colour options: fluid black or space silver, and both give the phone a sleek, appealing look. You get dual colours looking at the back of the phone at different lighting and angles, which is a special little addition. This dual Sim phone weighs in at 190 grams and measures 162.9 x 74.7 x8.4mm. While the plastic casing is thin, you will notice the phone’s borders get about thick around the display. The top left corner is a punch hole with a selfie camera. This is small, aptly placed, and seemingly out of the way. Another cool feature is the side-placed fingerprint sensor that’s often on the front or back of most phones. CAMERA The quality of a phone camera has become a huge consideration in phone purchase decisions. The A74 5G comes with a 48MP main sensor with a F1.7 aperture. Supporting sensors include 2MP macro and depth sensors. With these, you get four back cameras and one selfie camera. While the photos produced are of good quality, they lack the sharpness delivered by higher range phones. The primary camera can take excellent quality photos with great detail during the day in good lighting. You can also shoot videos on 1080 at 30fps. Unfortunately, 4k video recording is not available on this device. BATTERY LIFE Often, budget phones tend to hold up better battery life than pricier flagship phones. The A74 5G is no exception. Its 500mAh battery is likely to support calls, texting, browsing, gaming, and more for an entire day when fully powered. This takes out the headache of bringing your charger everywhere, and quite frankly, some lifestyles cannot sustain it. You also get fast charging 18W on this phone, but no wireless charging. PERFORMANCE This phone performs slightly better than the A54 and runs on Snapdragon 480, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The Qualcomm SD480 5G is a new system-on-chip-version that includes WIFI, GPS, True Wireless, and enough AI. The AI, for one, learns your phone brightness preferences and implements them. THE VERDICT The Oppo A74 5G is currently priced at $439.99, this phone offers good value in terms of battery lode, picture taking, and the futuristic 5G element. It also looks great and is easy to handle, without much risk of slipping. If you are looking for an everyday phone without breaking the bank, this is a worthwhile consideration. Of the phone models around then, Nokia was well known for sturdy phones that were virtually unbreakable and whose batteries could last for days on end. While most manufacturers have moved on to the delicate smartphones, Nokia has maintained some production of feature phones. The Nokia 800 Tough is one of these. When Nokia released their Nokia 800 Tough phone, they weren’t kidding about the name. The Nokia 800 is designed with a rubberized exterior that can withstand drops from up to 2 meters and it has an IP68 rating for dust protection. NOKIA 800 TOUGH The Nokia Tough, released in September 2019, is a light, small phone. And just like other Nokia feature phones from years past, it has an unimaginable battery life and takes a lot of effort to destroy. For people without the need for an App packed phone, this can make a good primary phone. For others, it can make an excellent backup phone. The 800 Tough’s heavy-duty rubberized buttons give phone a stronger feel and help give the phone an easy to use feel. Nokia has included some tech in the phone as well, and it supports voice control via Google Assistant, which adds a modern touch and makes it more user-friendly. FEATURES AND SPECS Here is exactly what you would get; BODY The phone comes encased in a 145.4 x 62.1 x 16.1 mm and weighs 161 grams. It’s a single Nano-SIM. It features a flashlight and is IP68 water-resistant, which is up to 1.5 meters immersion for 30 minutes. The phone is built for survival and is sheathed in a shock-absorbent rubber with MIL-STD-810G compliance. In short, this phone is a sturdy block, with some smart features missing in the feature phones of yesteryears, more notably the famous Nokia 3310. You can get it in desert sand and black steel colours with the Nokia 800 Tough currently priced at $174.99. DISPLAY For display, you get TFT and 256k colors on the 2.4 inches, 17.8 cmͨ 2. , with 240×320 pixels at 4:3 ratio. PLATFORM AND MEMORY Nokia Tough runs on an OS KaiOS. Its CPU is 2×1.1GHZ Cortex A7. The phone, however, lacks the selfie camera that’s a basic feature in smartphones today. For sound, the phone has a loudspeaker for music, audio clips, and phone calls. It also comes with the standard 3.5mm jack that’s compatible with both earphones and headphones. FEATURES Nokia 800 Tough has: * SMS applications * MP4/H.262 player * MP3/WAV/AAC player * Voice memo * Organizer * Predictive text input BATTERY As you may have guessed, the battery on this phone is a pure beast. The Nokia 800 is fitted with a non-removable Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery. Its standby time is touted to be 1030h which is about a month and a half!! If this is not impressive enough, you can activate the battery-saving mode to extend the duration. WHAT YOU WILL NOT LIKE Because the perfect phone is yet to be invented, the Nokia 800 Tough does have a few downsides. The first is the navigation that’s a bit slow and does not allow you to do things as quickly as you should on an android or iPhone. Typing is another as it can be rather tedious compared to smartphones. FINAL SAY For older people who don’t need a computer in their pocket, tradies, adventurous folks who are always up to strenuous activities, and people who travel a lot, this can be a great phone. Its sturdiness, battery life, and ability to take knocks without suffering any major damage are some of the qualities many people have been looking for and is an important device in Nokia’s range of phones.
