ITER – Latin for “journey”.. and the “A” stood for little more than the
ADVENTURE (where on that journey the outcomes are uncertain)

26TH – 29TH JULY 2024

ITERA-LITE ADVENTURE RACE 2024

2-3 days of non-stop multisport adventure in Dolgellau in North Wales.

ITERA-lite is designed to be a do-able stepping stone to expedition length
events for new adventure racers, a training opportunity for established teams,
and of course, a great race and adventure in its own right!

Expect around 300km of non-stop multisport action with stages comprising
trekking, mountain-biking, kayaking, navigation and special stages – we aim to
take you to some hidden gems.

We are anticipating the winning time to be around 48hours and all teams to be
complete within c. 60 hours. With shortcuts available for the novice or slower
teams we hope everyone will enjoy the drama and excitement to be found in in
expedition adventure racing.

Good navigation is essential for the race, and you will be provided with
detailed maps to follow. Attitude is everything, so be prepared for the
unexpected. This is an adventure – bring some self-reliance!.

Entries will be accepted from teams of 4 people (competitive teams will need to
have at least one female and one male member) and Pairs. Every member of every
team must have an appropriate level of experience or qualification in a kayak,
and be comfortable with long journeys in F3/F4 type conditions and easy moving
water in a river context. We reserve the right to conduct a basic skills test.

WE ARE PLANNING FOR THE 4-5 DAY VERSION OF ITERA TO RETURN IN 2025

WATER SAFETY & MEDICAL

SWIM SAFETY

There will be substantial safety cover on the loch to guide and provide safety
cover.

All competitors should please note: United Kingdom inland waters are not
completely safe for swimming, although risks of disease are low and risks of
serious infection are minute (we have NO concerns about the water, but do take
your safety seriously). Swimmers who may be susceptible to infection through
immune suppression, are advised not to enter the event if he or she is not in
good health at the time of swimming.

Water temperature will be checked on the morning of the race and any changes
will be advised at the race briefing.

Our qualified first aid team will be onsite during the event our First Aiders
are all highly experienced at supplying the highest calibre of comprehensive
medical cover at a range of sporting events.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

SUSTAINABILITY (IMPORTANT BIT!)

We're trying to raise our sustainability game. Yes, it's small stuff, but it's a
start, and every bit helps. There are two main changes to the way we're running
events we want you to be aware of, and need your collaboration on please;

a) Cups: feed station cups are our biggest source of waste. So we're stopping
using them. Completely. Single use cups are entirely avoidable. There will be no
cups at feed stations. You will need to bring your own hydration system, whether
this is a camel back, hydration vest, soft bottle or simply bring your own
collapsible cup, carry this with you and we will top it up at the feed
stations.

b) T Shirts: we know many of you love and use them, so we will keep on having
them as a race memento. However, we know that some of them get disposed of
without ever getting used - that's a waste of resources we can avoid. So, when
you enter you will have the option to choose "No T-Shirt". The cost of your
entry will remain the same, and we will donate the equivalent of the cost of
your T-Shirt to our selected charity.
