environments, and sometimes find new homes.

We offer education and support for owners of former racehorses, strengthening
the bond between them. In addition, we provide vital welfare for former
racehorses that have fallen on hard times.

FORMER RACEHORSES SHINE IN SPECIAL PARADE AT CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE

13.11.2024

A special parade showcasing retired racehorses will take place from 11.35am to
11.55am at Cheltenham Racecourse on day two of the November meeting, Saturday 16
November 2024, as part of the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) parade. The event
will celebrate the remarkable transformations of ten former racehorses, each now
excelling in new careers after retiring from the track.

Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is delighted to announce the appointment of David
Thorpe as its new chairman, from 1 January 2025. David succeeds Philip Freedman,
who has served in this role since January 2021.

NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2025 ROR AWARDS

Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is excited to announce that the 2025 RoR Awards
will be held at Cheltenham Festival Trials Day on 25 January 2025. This new
venue for the RoR Awards provides a unique opportunity to merge our celebration
of the adaptability and versatility of Thoroughbreds in their post-racing
careers with the excitement of racing. The event will highlight two prestigious
awards: The Jockey Club RoR Horse of the Year Award and The Sir Peter O’Sullevan
RoR Community Impact Award, alongside the presentation of the RoR Elite Series
champions across seven equestrian disciplines.
