Habsburg Empire, Smiljany consisted of only a few
houses, a school, a Сatholic church and an Orthodox
church, next to which there was a small priest's house.

Sickness. Study


his father saw in him the successor of his mission. But Nikola did not plan to
link his fate with the church.
Despite his father's demands to enter the theological seminary, Nikola returned
to his family in Gospic, where there was a cholera epidemic, and immediately
became infected.





In July 1873, Nikola Tesla received a matriculation
certificate, and then seriously thought about what he would do in life.


The path of a priest was destined for me from childhood. This thought oppressed

himself
In the spring of 1885, Tesla was offered a $50,000 deal by his employer



Deception of the century


The enraged inventor quit immediately


Edison was soon presented with 24 varieties of the machine. The improvements
were approved, but he refused to pay.


Own laboratory


Spring 1887
He worked on a project for an arc lamp for street lighting. The project was
ready in 12 months. But Tesla again did not receive a reward.

In the summer of 1888, the American industrialist George Westinghouse bought
more than 40 patents from Tesla. Each one cost $25,000.
