THE GOLDEN CHAIN THEATRE

We at GCT care deeply about the well-being and safety of our community; our many
patrons, partners, volunteers, and supporters. In these uncertain times, we are
treating health and safety as the top priority in guiding our decisions. Today,
we have been notified that some of our cast and crew have tested positive for
COVID-19. In the interest of utmost precaution, we’ve made the decision to
postpone the opening of Mary Poppins until Friday, October 1st. More information
regarding the revised performance schedule will be shared as soon as we are
able.

We are contacting ticket holders who will be affected by the schedule change. If
you have not been contacted yet, please call our box office at (559) 683-7112.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

Whimsical deceptions, social satire, and the art of earnestly being yourself.
More

This hilarious Victorian romp is the most renowned of Oscar Wilde’s comedies.
It’s the story of two bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’
Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives.
They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only
love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and
become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure.

THE PRODUCERS

A hilarious symphony of showbiz surprises, where laughter takes center stage and
political correctness  takes a back seat.
More

Based on the 1968 film and written by Mel Brooks, this deliciously offensive
musical is a laugh-out-loud, outrageous, crowd-pleasing farce that has been a
smash hit since its debut. Fading Broadway producer Bialystock is desperate to
get to the top of his profession again, and he finds an unlikely ally in mousy
accountant Bloom, who hypothesizes that one could make far more money with a
flop of a show than with a hit. Together, the two set out to produce the worst
musical ever, with the worst script, the worst director, and the worst cast they
can find; the catch is that they will somehow raise two million dollars to
finance the show, and then plan to take the money and head to Rio when the show
inevitably closes after just one performance! Full of wild characters, glitzy
showgirls and in your face comedy, you’re absolutely sure to have a gay time.
Not for the easily offended, this show makes a great date night out that will be
full of laughs.

BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS - CALLING YOU HOME

Festive fun meet heartfelt delights in this holiday extravaganza.
More

Several decades ago, the big ticket holiday event would have included cozying up
in front of the TV to watch a fun Christmas Variety show.  The best of these had
an undeniable charm that you just can’t find in the holiday programming of
today. We recommend taking a break during this hectic season.  Have a hot
chocolate from our saloon (add some schnapps, after all- it’s Christmas!) bring
the entire family and join us for a beautiful, nostalgic evening, as we welcome
you home to GCT.
