 * What is identity theft?
   
   Identity theft is a crime that occurs when your personal identifying
   information (PII) is used by someone else without your consent. This
   information could include your name, Social Security number, address, date of
   birth, credit card, financial and medical account information, driver’s
   license, or online account information. Criminals are continually finding new
   ways to use this information for their own gain, and they're becoming better
   and better at stealing identities without detection for longer periods, thus
   increasing the potential harm to their victims.

 * Why should I care whether someone steals my identity?
   
   Once an identity thief gains access to your personal information, the effects
   can range from annoying to life-altering. For example, the thief could damage
   your reputation by posting inappropriate content or even committing crimes in
   your name. They could make purchases, loans, or other transactions in your
   name, for which you could be held financially responsible. Unpaid bills could
   damage your credit rating, making it difficult for you to get a home, rental,
   auto, or college loan. If a background check reveals debts, crimes, or
   inappropriate web content posted by a thief, you could be turned down for a
   job. If your medical identity is stolen, you could even be denied medical
   services.

 * What should I do when my data is found exposed in a data breach?
   
   The first step is to enroll in IDX. You will receive automatic alerts if any
   suspicious activity is detected around any of the information we’re
   monitoring for you. You will also get recommendations on how to protect
   yourself from identity theft and fraud. If you have additional questions or
   think you may already be a victim of identity theft, you can always click the
   Help button on your dashboard and request assistance from the IDX Identity
   Recovery team.

 * Once my data has been breached, what can happen to it?
   
   Often, data that's been stolen or hacked from companies and organizations
   winds up for sale on the dark web, an anonymous layer of the web where
   cybercriminals operate. Bad actors can potentially buy the breached
   information and use it to commit identity theft or fraud. As part of your IDX
   membership, you'll have access to CyberScan, a proactive surveillance engine
   that automatically alerts you if your information has been detected on the
   dark web. Having this early warning can make all the difference in staying
   ahead of identity thieves.

 * Is it safe to provide my credit information to IDX?
   
   Yes. Credit monitoring is part of your IDX membership; during the setup
   process, we will ask you only for information that is already available to
   the credit bureaus. This information is a security measure used only to
   confirm your identity.

 * Can IDX help me recover my identity if it is stolen?
   
   Yes. Our U.S.-based recovery experts have helped to resolve thousands of
   cases of identity theft. Should you become a victim of identity theft, you
   will be assigned a personal recovery expert who will fight on your behalf
   (using limited power of attorney) to achieve full recovery of your identity,
   and can help answer any questions you might have during the process. Your
   assigned expert will be there for you from start to finish, and will save you
   the time and stress of attempting to resolve the issue on your own.

 * Will I be reimbursed for expenses related to identity recovery?
   
   Yes. As part of your IDX membership, you'll have $1 million in insurance
   coverage. This coverage offers reimbursement for any eligible expenses (e.g.,
   credit reports, legal fees for some civil suits, fees for refiling loan
   applications, etc.) related to the recovery process and any lost income (time
   off work) resulting from an identity theft incident.
