ROBIN AND LISA HALL IN DAHLONEGA

In 2013, we uprooted ourselves from life in England and moved to the (relative)
wilds of the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia, USA. Not quite as amazing a move
as it might sound, this was prompted by many trips to USA (Lisa came from
Georgia, and spent 15 years in suburban Ealing).

We sailed into New York harbour at dawn, past the Statue of Liberty, and spent
several weeks driving down the Eastern seaboard to our end destination,
Dahlonega. Here we rented a house whilst we undertook a long planned project,
building a custom-designed home at the foot of the mountains.

This website holds the weekly blog of our experiences, good and bad, the
challenges of assimilation and understanding of the local way of life, and the
whole complex business of shifting from a daily wage-slave into a carefree (or
maybe not) retiree. There are lots of pictures to accompany this, and a plethora
of links to local matters of interest.

I continued to update this site for several years, but eventually it rather fell
off my list of things to do. But after 11 years of life in Dahlonega, I am back
online! So come back and check us out, y’all.
