BUSINESS R&D PERFORMANCE IN THE UNITED STATES NEARS $700 BILLION IN 2022

September 30, 2024
Businesses continued to increase their research and development (R&D)
performance in 2022, spending $692 billion on R&D in the United States—a 14.8%
increase from 2021. Funding from the companies’ own sources accounted for $608
billion of total spending in 2022, while funding from other sources accounted
for the remaining $83 billion.
