AAAPC Equity Awards
Nominations are currently open for the AAAPC Research / Education Equity Award
To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the AAAPC, two new AAAPC Equity Awards have
been developed. The Executive committee will decide each year whether enough
funds are available to offer one or both awards valued at a total of up to
$8,000 AUS each year.
There are two types of Equity Awards available:
1. AAAPC Research / Education Equity Award
2. AAAPC Hardship Equity Award
AAAPC Research / Education Equity Award - Applications are now closed
The following are guidelines applicable to the AAAPC Research/Education Equity
Award 2023 only.
Aims:
* To recognise AAAPC members who require financial assistance in primary care
research and/or education in First Nations or underrepresented racial and
ethnic groups.
Value and criteria of award
An award of up to AUD 5,000 will be granted each year. Grants must be used
within twelve months of the award being offered. Priority will be given to
applicants who are of First Nations or minority racial and ethnic groups.
Winner of the AAAPC Research/Education Equity Award will be provided with the
funds to their university or company account.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
* Demonstrate excellence in primary care research and/or education in First
Nations or underrepresented racial and ethnic groups;
* Provide details of how the award will benefit them and their project;
* Be a current financial member of AAAPC & have held membership for at least
one year before applying; and
* Not been awarded a AAAPC Equity Award in the previous four years.
Call for application
Applications will open on 13 September 2023.
Submission process
Applications must be in minimum font size 11 point. A PDF version (in one
document) should be submitted electronically to the AAAPC Secretariat
(secretariat@aaapc.org.au) by 5pm (AEST) 15 December 2023. Late applications
will not be accepted.
Your application must include:
* Contact details, please include if you are of First Nations or
underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.
* Summaries of the following:
* * applicant’s excellence and impact in primary care research and/or education
in First Nations or underrepresented racial and ethnic groups (max. 500
words)
* proposed use of funding and how the award will benefit them (eg. increase
recognition) and their primary care research and/or education project in
First Nations or underrepresented racial and ethnic groups (eg. able to
reimburse community for their involvement, assist community develop certain
skills) (max. 500 words)
* Detailed budget, including in-kind contributions and/or other funding sources
(tabulated with justifications)
* Brief curriculum vitae – max four pages
* Letter of support from head of your institution/department confirming that
the financial support sought is NOT available from your home
institution/department
* Any other relevant supporting documentation.
Assessment process
1. Eligibility check – the application will be reviewed for eligibility
including the financial membership status of the applicant.
2. Peer Review - applications will be reviewed by two members of AAAPC (without
conflicts of interest) based on the aims of the award
Reporting Obligations
Winner of the award will submit a brief report (300-500 words) to the AAAPC
Committee at the end of 12 months outlining the benefits that the award has
brought to them and their project. With their permission, will be published on
the AAAPC website. They will also prepare a short summary for advertising the
awards for subsequent years, if appropriate.
AAAPC Hardship Equity Award - Applications are now open!
The following are guidelines applicable to the AAAPC Hardship Equity Award 2024
only.
Aims:
* To recognise AAAPC members who are experiencing financial hardship and other
disadvantages to attend the AAAPC Annual Research Conference.
Value and criteria for use of grant
An award of up to AUD 3,000 will be granted each year to cover conference
registration, transport, meals and accommodation for the upcoming AAAPC Annual
Research Conference.
Winner of the AAAPC Hardship Equity Award will submit all tax invoices for the
registration, airfares and accommodation to the Treasurer before their travel,
allowing ample time before the planned travel.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
* Provide a personal statement and details of how the award will benefit them
and their work;
* Be a current financial member of AAAPC & have held membership for at least
one year before applying; and
* Not been awarded a AAAPC Equity Award in the previous four years.

Application will open on 1 February 2024
Submission process
Applications must be in minimum font size 11 point. A PDF version (in one
document) should be submitted electronically to the AAAPC Secretariat
(secretariat@aaapc.org.au) by 5pm (AEST) 19 April 2024. Late applications will
not be accepted.
Your application must include:
* Contact details, please include if you are of First Nations or
underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.
* A personal statement and details of how the award will benefit them (eg.
opportunity to network at the conference) and their work (eg. opportunity to
increase exposure of their research to a larger audience) (max 500 words)
* Detailed budget including conference registration, transport, meals
(including conference dinner) and accommodation (tabulated with
justifications)
* Brief curriculum vitae – max four pages
* Letter of support from head of your institution/department confirming that
the financial support sought is NOT available from your home
institution/department
* Any other relevant supporting documentation.
Assessment process
