Welcome to the Australian International School, a place where a love of lifelong
learning is instilled in students. Established over fourteen years ago, we have
chronicled an enviable history of success thanks to the dedication of our
excellent teaching staff, our adherence to the world’s highest educational
standards under the Australian National Curriculum and our passion for fostering

Meet the family



Judy Richards

Dean of Students - Junior Secondary

Our family moved to Sharjah from Aotearoa in 2016. Our daughter Molly is
currently thriving in Grade 11 at AIS. I am Dean of Students in the secondary
school and Mr Dave is secondary DHOS teaching and learning. We are very grateful
to our school community for making us feel so welcome. In our leisure time as a
family, we enjoy the outdoors, spending nights camping in the desert, hiking
through the mountain ranges, and relaxing at the beaches.

Lauren Jordaan

Primary Teacher

Teaching is my passion. To me, it is not just a job, it is who I am. I believe
in the holistic developments of the child and will do everything possible to
develop the full potential of every student I have the privilege and pleasure of
working with. My relationship with my students and their parents is of the
utmost importance.

Mia Andoniou

Alumni - Class of 2021

Since graduating from AIS in 2021, I am studying for a Bachelor of Design at the
Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, majoring in Product and Fashion Design
in collaboration with MIT and Parsons. I have been employed with Azadea Group,
on a part-time basis working in the fashion industry. I have also had the
opportunity for my projects to be featured in exhibitions including GITEX and
the Global Grad Show.

Hammady Abouzied

Social Studies and Moral Education Teacher

I am Hammady Abouzied, from Egypt, and have been working at the Australian
school since 2018. I enjoy teaching at AIS because of the healthy environment
that the leadership team has created for my colleagues and my students. In my
free time, I enjoy reading, sports, and traveling. Our life is built all around
the choices we make and I am lucky to have chosen to be part of an amazing team
responsible for creating a bright future for the UAE.
