TICKET NEWS Dodgers, Yankees Meet in World Series for 1st Time Since 1981 October 22, 2024 The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are facing off in Major League Baseball’s World Series once again. No two teams have seen each other more in the league’s postseason – the matchup has happened 11 times in the championship, with the Yankees winning eight of those series. The rivalry dates back to the 1940s when both teams were in New York, but the teams haven’t met in a World Series since 1981. The Dodgers have the home-field advantage thanks to a higher regular season winning percentage, but tickets to the Yankees home games might be in more demand based on ticket prices. The average ticket price to each game is: * Game 1 (Dodger Stadium): $1,133 * Game 2 (Dodger Stadium): $1,258 * Game 3 (Yankee Stadium): $1,547 * Game 4 (Yankee Stadium): $1,497 * Game 5 (Yankee Stadium): $1,583 * Game 6 (Dodger Stadium): $1,363 * Game 7 (Dodger Stadium): $1,450 The Yankees haven’t competed in the World Series since winning it in 2009, while the Dodgers won the trophy in 2020. Last year, the Texas Rangers were crowned champion after winning 4-1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The games will be aired on Fox. In 2018, the broadcaster extended its deal through the 2028 season for exclusive rights to the World Series and All-Star Game. Game 1 will air at 8:08 p.m. ET on Friday, October 25. Fans looking to attend the series can get tickets here. The post Dodgers, Yankees Meet in World Series for 1st Time Since 1981 appeared first on TFL. Read More MLB Teams Begin Run for World Series October 1, 2024 Major League Baseball’s postseason begins Tuesday with 12 teams competing to take home the 2024 World Series trophy. The first four games of the postseason will be played on Tuesday. Eight teams will play in the Wild Card round, which are best-of-three series with all three games played at the higher seed’s stadium. It’s the third year since MLB expanded its playoff bracket from five to six teams in each conference. The average ticket prices for the first game of each Wild Card Series range from $84-$176, with the San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves being the most expensive. That game is followed by: * Baltimore Orioles vs. Kansas City Royals: $153 * New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers: $107 * Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers: $84 On ticketsforless.com, the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros have a get-in price of $16, the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles of $21, the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers of $18 and the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres of $88. The highest average ticket price for all games in the Wild Card Round is the potential Game 3 between the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals. The Wild Card round will be followed by the division series (best of five), the league championship series (best of seven) and the World Series (best of seven). The latter is slated to begin on October 25, and, depending on how many games are in the series, could end on November 2. The New York Yankees, Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies will begin play in the league championship series. Fans can get tickets to all games on ticketsforless.com. Read More Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Drop First WNBA Playoff Game September 23, 2024 The WNBA Playoffs are underway, and after the Indiana Fever’s loss on Sunday, Caitlin Clark only has one more shot to make it to the postseason’s second round. For the WNBA, there are three rounds in the postseason. The first features four best-of-three series, while the semi-finals and Finals are best-of-five. The higher seed in the first round host Games 1 and 2 and the higher seed in the final two rounds host Games 1, 2 and 5. Clark and the Indiana Fever fell to the Connecticut Sun in the first game of round one on Sunday and will meet again on Wednesday for a shot at Game 3. The teams that wins will advance to the semi-finals. The Fever hasn’t made the playoffs since 2016, but the interest in seeing Clark’s first postseason is undeniable. According to TFL, the average ticket price to the Fever and Sun’s series is three times higher than any other first round series in the playoffs at $225. The Minnesota Lynx, the second seed, has the series with the second-highest average ticket price against the Phoenix Mercury at $73, while the New York Liberty, the No. 1 seed in the postseason, had the third-highest average ticket price against the Atlanta Dream at $70. The Liberty will look to win its first championship in franchise history despite being one of the league’s original teams. The average price to see WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces take on the the Seattle Storm in the first round is $40. Game 2 of the first round begins Monday. With powerhouse programs like Texas, Ohio State and Georgia leading the charge, the quest for the national championship title promises more competition than ever before, with the College Football Playoff featuring 12 teams instead of its usual four. One of the most significant storylines of the past few seasons has been the effect of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) on college football. NIL deals have become a prominent factor in the recruitment process with top prospects’ choices, at times, affected by the financial opportunities available. Schools with strong NIL programs can have a competitive edge, attracting talent that might have gone elsewhere otherwise. This shift has changed how teams recruit and altered the college football landscape. The transfer portal continues to be another critical aspect of roster building, with high-profile players switching schools in search of new opportunities. Notable moves include former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel joining Oregon, and Caleb Downs, one of the top defensive players in the nation, heading to Ohio State. These player movements, combined with NIL deals, have reshaped team dynamics and added an extra layer of excitement to the season. International games have started to make their mark on college football as well. Florida State will take on Georgia Tech in Ireland to kick off the season, continuing a tradition of bringing American college football to international audiences. These games expand the sport’s reach and provide a cultural experience for the players and fans involved. With a short time to go before the first kickoff, fans are eager to secure their spots in the stands. According to our data, ticket prices for key games, especially those involving top-ranked teams and fierce rivalries, have seen a notable rise compared to previous years. One of the highest-selling tickets for the first week of the season comes from the matchup between the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies, which has an average ticket price of $630. The No. 23 USC Trojans take on the No. 13 LSU Tigers in the first week, too, with the average ticket price coming in at $425. The last top-ranked game of the first week is between the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 14 Clemson Tigers in Atlanta, Georgia, which has an average ticket price of just under $400. From new talent making their mark to the changes in the schedule and increasing importance of NIL offers in recruiting, there’s something for every fan to look forward to. As the season approaches, ticket sales continue to grow, making it essential for fans to secure their seats early.
