PERSPECTIVE SOFT OBS Studio - best of its kind OBS Studio is a popular open source solution for recording your gameplay and, in particular, for demonstrating it to the world. It's a powerful program, but it's probably redundant for those who just want a quick and easy solution to capture games. OBS Studio includes a lot of features and settings, and if you're willing to take the time to learn it, this program offers amazing flexibility for power users. To make learning easier, OBS Studio includes a wizard to help you optimize your settings for streaming or recording video the first time you run the program. OBS works best if you have a multi-screen setup where you can watch OBS on one display and play your game on another, though that's not a requirement. Unlike other applications, OBS does not create an in-game overlay. Instead, it just runs in the background. You'll also need to tell OBS to start recording or streaming as soon as your game is running or just before you launch it. OBS without active recording using a dark theme. You can also add any number of elements to your broadcast or recording, including a picture-in-picture webcam shot, personalized watermarks, and more. To get started with OBS Studio, you first create something called a "Scene" that contains all of your recording sources. You then add sources like the game, your webcam, microphone, and watermark. Once you've specified everything to record, you click the Start Recording button, launch the game, and then when you're done, click Stop Recording. Before launching your first official recording, you should make sure that OBS is set up correctly and working before relying on it for a full gaming session. OBS Studio settings offer a huge number of configurations, but the key ones you should pay attention to are in the Settings section of the Output > > Record. Here you can specify the video encoder to use, the recording format and the recording quality. By default, OBS will choose hardware encoding, but this option can be a bit fussy. For the most reliable results, beginners should instead use one of the software options (x264). Another customization option is in settings > Video. Make sure That Base (Canvas) Resolution is set to Game Resolution. If you're playing a game at 1080p on a 1080p monitor, this won't be a problem. But if the quality of your gameplay or streaming degrades at 1080p and you decide to upgrade to 720p, then the canvas resolution of 1080p means you won't get a full-screen recording of your game. Instead, the 720p record will be in the upper-left corner of the 1080p window. All of these detailed settings and OBS Studio's lack of standard hotkey settings for short bursts of recording are reasons for most users to stay away. Power users already familiar with OBS Studio, or those who want to take the time to learn the program, will find plenty of customizable options that they can use.
