Financial Management is known to be indispensable to any successful business.
Furthermore, the ability to understand Finance is crucial for any manager who
wants to advance their career. How do you determine and measure a company’s
success? How do you determine the financial health of a company? How can a
company create more wealth for all its stakeholders, not only its shareholders?
How do different parts of the financial statements interact not only to show the
financial health of a company, but also to identify as well as reflect the
results of wealth creating opportunities? These are some of the questions
addressed in the Financial Management for Engineers course.

Learning outcomes

The general objective of this course is to equip the engineering manager with
knowledge and insight into the principles (theory, concepts, processes) and
practices (tools, techniques) of Financial Management. The aim is to provide
leadership in financial decision-making and to equip you with the ability to
solve problems from a financial perspective. You will not only have a better
understanding of the language of finance, financial statements, and critical
aspects such as capital budgeting and capital structure, but also be able to
converse freely with specialists in the area of finance. Furthermore, the course
will equip you with the necessary finance skills and tools to evaluate and
implement effective solutions and enhance your career in a professional
engineering environment.

This course is applicable for any manager, project manager, engineer or any
other decision maker that has to solve a problem in the (complex) real world.
