The block also features stunning and playful artwork created by local artist @sarahpou.art, which features some of your favourite places on the Kāpiti Coast as well as exploring a secret undersea life. Keep an eye out for colouring in pages of the artwork at Kāpiti Coast District Libraries or you can download them online 👉🏼 www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/macleanparkrefresh Read more @kapiticoastdistrictcouncilYesterday Share kapiticoastdistrictcouncil It's been a year since we kicked off our battery recycling trial at Kāpiti Coast District Libraries! Over the last 12 months, we've collected 27 buckets of domestic batteries, which is more than 540 kilograms, or the weight of one grand piano diverted from landfill. Ka pai, Kāpiti 👏🏼💚 Household batteries can be dropped off at our purpose-built recycling stations at Paraparaumu and Ōtaki libraries (Waikanae you're next!). From here, we'll send them for recycling – about 99 percent of the parts in domestic batteries may be able to be reused in new batteries and steel building reinforcing rods. Household batteries in good condition – like lithium-ion or Li-ion (including rechargeable ones), nickel cadmium and alkaline AA/AAA, C, D, and N batteries, and silver zinc hearing aid batteries – can be dropped off at Ōtaki and Paraparaumu libraries.
