It’s like teenage boys asking other teenage boys how girls think.

But at the same time, the information shared is all too often shared from
equally ignorant sources. Most significantly, I think, for better or worse, we
didn’t have 24/7 access to the world’s opinions. Back then, hours in front of a
keyboard or gaming platform may have been spent at the expense of family board
game time, but we still played outside, with direct human contact and space to
have our own thoughts.

Those who escape one reality for another weren’t around in the 1990s when these
things were gaining traction. They convey a sense of entitled self-righteousness
from behind a headset and controllers, heck even Kinect sensory systems, all the
while not actually doing very much at all. And by tech, I mean their
disappearance into another reality, which some of our young ones tell us is
where “it” is at.Ī new generation is parked on its bottom for hours, days,
weeks, months at a time. What differentiates this new generation from those that
came before is how generational dissonance seems to be exacerbated by tech. And
we need the energy and fresh mind of youth to help push us forward as a species.
This is a much longer conversation than the few thoughts I’ll share here, but as
a Buddhist I believe it’s worth thinking about when it comes to engaging with
younger generations.Įvery generation is doing it for the first time of
course-whatever “it” may be. Although, as my son reminded me, “It’s probably
from the ’terrifying’ thought that if there is nothing beyond this reality, if
this reality is it, it would be incredibly depressing.”īuddhism and today’s
youth has been a serious topic of conversation over the last few years. I have
spoken a little about generational dissonance in a previous article on
parenting,* but this little muse is on the impact that the internet and
augmented reality-or virtual reality-is having on generation gaps, and,
moreover, my curiosity over why we are so inclined to want to escape this
reality.

SPLICE 2 DVD

By the way, y'ever notice how aliens & evolved humanoids always look just like
Bjork? Just sayin. If you like scifi satires like "Starship Troopers", "District
9", or scifi morality plays about the creation of new lifeforms as in "Solaris",
"Moon", "Alien Resurrection", or the one that started them all, "Frankenstein"
(2004 miniseries, the best version), maybe with a bit of "Species" eroticism &
"Rosemary's Baby" & "The Omen" & "Mommy Dearest" & "Flowers in the Attic" thrown
in, then this is for you. Most likely the filmmakers deliberately used elements
of both. But like I said, I have no clue if this is masterpiece material or just
plain cheese. Much like "Starship Troopers" was a deep socio-political satire
disguised as a campy action flick, I think SPLICE gives us a techno-moral satire
disguised as a thriller. The more I think of it, I think this film is brilliant.

It would make him go crying to his momma. You think Oedipus had problems? Hahaha
Oedipus never saw SPLICE. Get unlimited DVD Movies & TV Shows delivered to your
door with no late fees. Parts of this story seemed ridiculous & comic booky, but
just when I'm about to write it off as childish tosh it introduces some
incredibly complex themes like a Greek play. Rent Splice (2009) starring Adrien
Brody and Sarah Polley on DVD and Blu-ray. You'll see an end to vivisection
overnight. Like seriously, my hippie brethren, put down your picket signs and
just show this movie on street corners. The point being, I'm sure, to show just
how morally wrong it is for scientists to engage in vivisection & the creation
of life. The scientists initially approach this dilemma by thinking like classic
teleologians. The main ethical dilemma presented in the film is the use of
genetic modification technology in humans. The whole experience is like a
voyeuristic romp, testing the limits of how screwed-up the writers' (and your
own) imagination can get. According to Splice, the answer is most definitely.

Normally I would say predictability is a flaw, but in this case it's thrilling.
I found myself, in the depths of my twisted mind, thinking "woah, wouldn't it be
crazy if (such and such) happens." and sure enough it does, only to be followed
by "oh but they wouldn't dare let (such and such) happen." and sure enough it
does again. Just to throw some words out there: incest, bestiality, rape,
science, incest. Like if you thought "Species" was perverse, it looks like "The
Flying Nun" compared to this. What makes this story so memorable is that the
writers aren't afraid to take it wherever it needs to go. As you can guess from
the movie posters, the story is about an artificially-engineered humanoid who's
pretty hot. Vincenzo Natali, the director of the 2009 sci-fi horror movie,
Splice, took inspiration for his creature, Dren, and the films overarching plot
from a real science experiment thats almost as strange as the film. I'm not sure
if you'll love or hate this flick, but if you will definitely NOT forget it.
Seriously, what did I just watch? I can't decide if this movie is brilliant,
cheezy, profound, juvenile, disgusting or the biggest turn-on since "I Spit On
Your Grave". The DVD is handsomely produced and packaged, and comes with a
36-page booklet detailing the selected title sequences.ģ8 of the best
contemporary title sequences (2003 – 2011)ĩ short documentaries about title

number that isn’t on this chart. Every lens will give users the ability to step
between most of the f-stop numbers listed on this chart. If you move from a
higher number (11) to a lower number (8) it is called “ stopping up“. If you
move from a lower number (2.8) to a higher number (4) it is called “ stopping
down“. Taking your f-stop from a lower number to a higher number decreases the
amount of incoming light in half, moving two stops higher decreases incoming
light by four and so on. The following chart shows us what f-stop numbers
represent full stops: Knowing what numbers represent stops is very important to
figuring out how much light is coming into your camera. In photography and video
a stop is a step that either doubles the incoming light or cuts the incoming
light in half. A lower f-stop number (1.2, 1.4, 1.8, 2) will let in more light
compared to a higher f-stop number (8,11,16,22) which doesn’t allow very much
light.Īlthough the actual f-stop numbers may seem arbitrary they actually stand

The Falconeer features a highly technical art style that does away with the
accepted practice of using textures.

The prototype soon became the foundation for The Falconeer. Using the assets and
the codes of Oberon's Court, Sala quickly built a prototype for a new game,
inspired by aerial combat games he used to enjoy during his childhood, such as
Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, Aces of the Pacific,
Red Baron, and Crimson Skies. Commenting on its cancellation, Sala added that "I
couldn't finish it, because it was too dark, it was too confronting". However,
it was cancelled because the game was deemed too dark. He started working on a
title named Oberon's Court in 2013. He worked on a mod for The Elder Scrolls:

positive reactions from the community, which encouraged him to commence work on

career. The Falconeer is the debut title for solo developer Tomas Sala. In
different chapters, which can be completed in any order, the player will control
pilots from different factions and command a new warbird. The player can also
acquire mutagens that can be used to improve the Warbird's basic attributes such
as agility and health. As players progress in the game, they can purchase new
weapons. In addition to completing the narrative campaign, the player can freely
explore the open world and finish different side missions such as completing
bounties and delivering items. Players need to manage the warbird's stamina
while performing various moves and maneuvers. In the game, the player needs to
shoot down rival enemies while dodging hostile attacks. Set in a nautical /scifi
backdrop named the Great Ursee, The Falconeer is a third-person arcade flight
video game in which the player assumes control of a pilot commandeering a
massive warbird. It was later ported to Stadia on October 5, 2021. It received
both good and mixed reviews upon release, with outlets praising its
uncompromising vision and homage to the niche dogfighting genre, while the same
elements where looked upon less kindly by other reviewers.Īn enhanced version of

Have Volrath become a Beguiler of Wills and tap to likely nab the best creatures
on the board. The game plan as I see it is to find creatures that gain value
based on the size of their body but are built small. The right deck skeleton
will ultimately require some time thinking about ways to effectively get
counters onto whichever creature we want to copy, but right now Generous Patron,
Midnight Banshee, Xathrid Gorgon, and Makeshift Mannequin are topping my
personal list. Something I wasn’t prepared for was just how much of an all-star
Volrath, the Shapestealer was going to be in this product. But I also want to
look out for cards that were excluded from the precon, like Ebonblade Reaper,
which can drastically change an opponent’s place in the game, or Primordial
Mist, which can turn manifested instants or sorceries back into spells.

The deck skeleton I envision will be able to also take advantage of the new
Scroll of Fate, manifesting cards from our hand and drawing us another card. I
think the design space for a powerful deck is absolutely there, making the first
face-down creature spell you cast each turn effectively free and making all
face-down spells cantrip massively empowers the deck. Our marquee legend is
Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer and while I had been lukewarm on them, I understand
that players have been clamoring for a general that explicitly plays well with
Morph creatures. What I was not expecting was that the deck was going to house
so many stellar legendary creatures. My Aminatou, the Fateshifter deck has a
sizable Morph/manifest suite, but the deck has been more stagnant than I was
hoping it would be as the last year since her release. When we learned that
Morph was going to be a theme one of the decks would be built around this year,
I have to admit I was pretty excited. Commander 2019 is no different as today I
will be looking at the decks built around the mechanics of Morph and Populate.
And then there is last year’s entries on Lord Windgrace and Saheeli and Aminatou
and Estrid. You can find my thoughts one the Cat generals, as well as the
Dragons, Vampires, and Wizards of Commander 2017. As the Summer winds down,
we’ve reached one of my events of the year: Commander Previews! This year the
decks were all built around a themed mechanic as their identity and while I was
excited to see what might be possible with Morph or Flashback, I can confidently
say I was not expecting some of what we got in previews this week.Įvery year I

Cultivating Questioners had this to say about the fly swatter game: “I divide my
whiteboard into two sections and write words or numbers on the board randomly.
For a whole class experience put the words on the board and give each team one
fly swatter. Kids love this game! Be sure to set up rules before the game that
if someone intentionally swats another student with the fly swatter they sit out
a round, or whatever your class rule would be. If you don’t have the fly
swatter, you become the reader. After the words are gone, the fly swatters get
passed to the left. Whoever swats the word first keeps the word. The other kids
try to be the first to swat the word. Spread the words (or math fact cards, or
whatever) on the ground. The student without a fly swatter is the reader. One
student does not have a fly swatter, while the others each have one. The class
then proceeded to beg me to let them watch another.

All of the students, as well as my cooperating teacher, were laughing. We

sometimes in the film as posing suggestively on a car when the Bellas go check

Beca and later win the competition. Stacie admitted to the fact that she has a
lot of sex but then Fat Amy stated that the Bellas already knew that before her
confession. Later on, Beca returned and each of them got along by holding
confessions.

When the Barden Bellas had a fight with each other, she got chased around by
Cynthia Rose who inappropriately grabs her boobs which caused her to blow her
rape whistle. She competed with the Bellas during the regionals, semi-finals and
finals. She performs Rihanna's "S&M" with Cynthia Rose and performs another
sexual related songs during the riff-off. Stacie attended all the Bellas'
practices, as she and Chloe Beale worked to improve her moves as it was
considered to be too sexual.

She was also able to party and dance along with the crowd. During the
aca-initiation night, she was able to interact with her fellow Bellas, one of
which was Cynthia Rose, which seems to be attracted to her. Stacie takes pride
in herself and her appearance. She is later on approved to be a member of the
Bellas as a Mezzo singer. Her personality is mainly "sexual" in nature. Stacie
make her first appearance auditioning for the Barden Bellas where she introduces
herself and tell everyone her hobbies include cuticle care and E! Network.
