Joel did a fantastic job creating and implementing this curriculum. The program offers something for both the VC novice and those that are more experienced. Joel booked great speakers for the second half of the program that shared their insights from their careers. The cohort is really what stands out, you will meet a diverse group of talented individuals that want to do good things. Joel did a great job of making us feel like a family. I highly recommend this program! 458 views · Related questions More answers below What is your review of Crown Capital Management? What is the paid up capital of Otlar life? Learn More Michael Tellini Answered 1 year ago I helped Joel mentor his initial analyst cohort at Sutton Capital, where he trains working professionals and college students for a career in VC. The curriculum is comprehensive, and our accomplished cohort of analysts (with backgrounds at firms such as Blackstone, Morgan Stanley, EY etc…) were successfully positioned for a pivot to a career in venture. 655 views · View upvotes · 91 Christopher Weathers Answered 1 year ago The Sutton Capital Investor Program was an incredible experience both personally and professionally. The program covered every part of VC from the history, to term sheets, to waterfall analysis, and even sourcing your own deals on behalf of the Sutton Capital firm. On top of that, you get to join an ecclectic cohort of intelligent people from all of the world. The instructor, Joel, is very hands on, responsive and very knowledgeable about the space. After research into buy-side roles, I knew that venture capital would best align with my interests and passion. A few months ago, I came across the opportunity and joined the Sutton Capital program, which was structured as an apprenticeship. I applied online and had an interview with Joel as he explained the valuable experience we would get as analysts in the program. The first few weeks, he taught us the quantitative and qualitative skillsets needed to properly invest early stage startups. Through his lectures and collaborations with other managing partners, we were able to grasp the space and hit the ground running. It was inspiring to hear how Joel was able to make investments into notable startups that were carving out a niche within its own space. Finding innovative companies that were becoming market leaders or trend setters was exciting to say the least. The best part of the program was the fact that we were able to work with other students from a diverse set of backgrounds. They were from universities all across the U.S. and even overseas studying different majors with a unique lens on valuing startups. We were broken up into teams with different sector specializations and had team exercises that helped us grow as professionals. We were expected in the latter half of the program to pitch companies to an investment committee that consisted of different venture capital funds. Having this exposure was great to get critical feedback in improving for the next time around. Lastly, having a group of like-minded individuals really made this experience memorable and long-lasting for me. I would encourage anyone that has doubts about their current career path to open your mind to venture capital as well as this program. 93 Greg Zuar , lives in New York City Answered 1 year ago Joel Palathinkal runs an amazing fund at Sutton Capital. The work is thorough and intense, but in a rewarding and enjoyable way. Its not something you often find in a competitive space like VC, but is something that I think really shows what Sutton and Joel is truly about. This is how I was introduced to VC and the fund and would recommend the program to anyone looking to learn and be challenged in the VC space. 91 Arth Shukla , lives in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India Answered 1 year ago I was part of the June-August 2020 cohort at Sutton Capital and it was an extremely valuable experience throughout the program. There is a class focused on fund creation and management as well. This experience is the preparation for the next stage of the program. The last 5 weeks of the program is the apprenticeship where one would reach out to real startups for deals and go through the process of evaluating them using different metrics and then presenting them to partners every Monday. Selected startups can goto the next step of due diligence and investment committee. Apart from startups , one also has the opportunity to network and learn from guest VCs every week. The program is great for gaining exposure into the VC ecosystem and building knowledge at first. However it truly stands out because of the real life experience from its apprenticeship program. The ability to network and learn by doing is something which can't be achieved from any other VC course. This is why I would definitely recommend the program to anyone who wants to be in VC. I’ve said all this when all I wanted to say is that I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would recommend hands down to those who are seeking such an awesome opportunity to learn how to mold their career paths towards the Venture Capital Industry ! 91 Related questions What is your review of Crown Capital Management?
