SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY EXPEDITED FURTHER FOR VETERANS

March 21, 2014 By Pete Strom Leave a Comment

SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY WILL BE EXPEDITED FOR VETERANS WITH 100% PERMANENT
AND TOTAL RATING DISABILITIES

The Social Security Administration announced on Tuesday, March 18th, that it
would launch a new social security disability process to expedite claims for
veterans who have a Department of Veterans Affairs disability compensation
rating of 100% Permanent & Total (P&T).

The new process would treat P&T applications for veterans benefits and social
security disability as high priority and will expedite the decision process.

“We have reached another milestone for those who have sacrificed so much for our
country and this process ensures they will get the benefits they need quickly,”
said Acting Commissioner Colvin.  “While we can never fully repay them for their
sacrifices, we can be sure we provide them with the quality of service that they
deserve.  This initiative is truly a lifeline for those who need it most.”

“No one wants to put America’s veterans through a bureaucratic runaround,” said
Maryland Congressman John Sarbanes, a leading proponent for increasing
assistance to veterans. “As the baby boomer generation ages and more veterans of
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan need care, this common sense change will help
reduce backlogs and cut through unnecessary red tape so that our most disabled
veterans receive the benefits they’ve earned.”

Although the social security disability and veterans benefits claims will be
expedited, the Social Security Administration does not guarantee approval of all
claims.

ESTABLISHING A CLAIM FOR VETERAN’S BENEFITS THROUGH THE SOCIAL SECURITY
ADMINISTRATION

To be entitled to service-connected benefits, a veteran must prove that his
disability was the result of military service or medical treatment by the VA
hospital and was not the result of his own willful misconduct.

Unlike many actual disabilities, disability ratings determined by the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs are not permanent. If you think that an initial
disability rating given to you by the VA is too low, there are steps you can
take to appeal the decision and have it changed. Likewise, there is also a
process in place to address the needs of disabled veterans whose disabilities
have grown worse over time.

To talk about your veterans’ disability benefits, your current disability
rating, or what our lawyers can accomplish for you contact us today for a free
consultation. All veterans’ disability and benefits cases are handled on a
contingent fee basis. We receive no attorneys’ fees unless we are able to get
your rating and your veterans’ disability payments increased.
