OUR STORY

Ryan and Erica’s story begins at the University of Alabama at Birmingham - in
the spring of 2014 when they met at a speed-dating “mixer” hosted by their
respective fraternity and sorority. They became fast friends - both enjoying the
other’s goofiness and noting how easy it was to talk to one another. Their
friendship blossomed over the following year, and eventually they realized that
maybe there was something more than friendship to explore. They went on a first
date (what they now call the “first first date”), and though it went well, the
two decided to remain friends.

A few years later in 2016, Erica and Ryan’s mutual friends knew the two had
lingering feelings for each other and made it their mission to match-make the
two together (Shout out to Rania, Lydia, and Andrew… it takes a village
apparently…). Their subtle (or not-so-subtle) hints led to Ryan taking Erica on
their “second first date,” officially propelling them out of the friend zone -
and the rest is history!

Their journey took Ryan to medical school at the University of South Alabama,
leading to four years of long-distance as Erica remained in Birmingham for
graduate school at UAB. The two finally closed the long-distance gap in the
spring of 2020 after they both graduated - and a few months later, Ryan proposed
to Erica on a romantic sunrise hike in their new home state of Georgia!

Over the past five years, we have felt nothing but immense love and support for
our relationship from our family and friends. Thank you to our loved ones for
loving us so well - from near and far. We are thrilled to begin our married
lives together and to share our special day with you. We look forward to
celebrating together on January 29th!
