ELIGIBILITY FOR THE HARDSHIP FUND

The Hardship Fund is open to anyone that missed out on the government’s Cost of
Living Payment as they were not receiving one of the qualifying benefits at the
right time but are now.

You will only be eligible for the council’s Hardship Fund if you meet both or
one of the following criteria:

 * you are receiving Pension Credit and your entitlement started after 25
   February 2023
 * you are receiving Universal Credit and your entitlement started after 26
   January 2023

Please do not apply if you received Pension Credit before 26 February 2023 or
your Universal Credit started before 27 January 2023. You must also be a
Westminster resident or a homeless person placed in temporary accommodation by
the council outside Westminster.

HOW MUCH WILL I RECEIVE?

Help is through supermarket vouchers which will be emailed to you.

The amount depends on your circumstances:

 * if you are single - £150
 * couples - £180
 * people receiving a disability benefit or a Carers Benefit - £250
 * over the age of 65 - £250
 * have children in your household - £300

HOW TO APPLY

Please have your National Insurance and Council Tax numbers (if you are the
Council Taxpayer) as proof of your address. This is the nine-digit number of
your bill. If you are not the Council Taxpayer where you live, you must provide
electronic proof of your address and upload it with your application form.

Proof of your address could be:

 * your current tenancy agreement
 * bank statement dated within the last two months showing your address
 * utility bill dated within the last three months showing your address
 * your driving licence showing your address

If we need any more information, we will let you know.

If you don’t have internet access or need help completing the form and uploading
documents, you can ask someone to help you, or you can contact one of the advice
organisations listed below.

Apply for the Hardship Fund

You must have recently started receiving Pension Credit or Universal Credit to
be eligible. Please do not apply if you received Pension Credit before 26
February 2023 or your Universal Credit started before 27 January 2023.
