Lir NOTF houses Ireland’s only infrastructure for small to medium scale laboratory testing of ocean and maritime systems, and has expert support personnel and a track record stretching back to 1977. We engage with industry and researchers to support the development of these emerging technologies. Reputed for our contributions to wave, tidal and offshore wind energy development. We are also known for our work with floating structures, offshore structures, coastal engineering including breakwaters and harbours, hydrodynamics, scour, vessels and offshore logistics. OUR FACILITIES Electrical Laboratory Wave Basins Gallery TESTING OPPORTUNITIES COMMERCIAL + We engage with industry and researchers through commercial contracts, the MaREI Centre, Horizon 2020 programmes, SEAI prototype development fund and various International programmes and initiatives. Lir-NOTF has expert support personnel and a track record stretching back to 1977. More information on the MaREI centre is available on the more info link. More info MaRINET2 is a network of 39 partners, involving research centres and organisations cooperating to progress offshore renewable energy technologies such as wave, tidal and offshore-wind. It achieves this through marine energy development companies, entrepreneurs, start-ups and researchers with fully-funded access to marine energy experts and advanced test facilities. More info The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s mission is to help transform Ireland into a society based on sustainable energy structures, technologies and practices. SEAI coordinate the Prototype Development Fund programme, http://www.seai.ie/Renewables/Ocean-Energy/Prototype-Development-Fund/, which stimulates the development and deployment of Ocean Energy (OE) devices and systems. SEAI is a member of OCEANERA-NET, http://www.oceaneranet.eu/, a network of 15 national and regional funders and managers of research and innovation programmes, from 8 European Countries. OCEANERA-NET coordinates funding programmes between European countries and regions to support research and innovation in the ocean energy sector. SEAI and the Marine Institute developed Ireland’s Marine Renewable Energy Portal, http://www.oceanenergyireland.com. This portal guides users through the marine renewable energy development supports available in Ireland. More info FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES LIR NOTF ORE INDUSTRY ACCESS PROGRAMME CALL REMAINS OPEN UNTIL 17TH JUNE 2022 SEAI access program offers users free-of-charge access to the research and testing facilities of Lir-NOTF. The test facilities include multidirectional wave basin, wave/current flume, wave flume and wave basin, and a electrial laboratory facility. The range of facilities available provides potential users with the capability to test technology relating to offshore wind, tidal, and wave energy, as well as electrical and grid integration, and cross cutting technologies. Learn More LIR NOTF IS THE FIRST STEP FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF OFFSHORE RENEWABLE ENERGY IN IRELAND. DEVICES CAN PROGRESS FROM THE LIR NOTF LABORATORY ENVIRONMENT TO THE PROTECTED CONDITIONS OF THE GALWAY BAY TEST SITE AND ULTIMATELY THE OPEN SEA CONDITIONS OF THE ATLANTIC MARINE ENERGY TEST SITE, BEMULLET. THE OPERATION OF THESE FACILITIES IS SUPPORTED BY THE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AUTHORITY OF IRELAND. More Info CONTACT US To navigate, press the arrow keys.
