FISCHER’S BIPARTISAN CATTLE MARKET REFORM BILL PASSES AG COMMITTEE

“Our bipartisan bill to facilitate price discovery and bring much needed
transparency to the cattle market passed the committee by voice vote with only
two recorded no votes. The broad support reflects the importance of restoring
market fairness so that every segment of the cattle supply chain can succeed.
These reforms are especially needed now at a time when family ranchers and
consumers are all struggling to navigate a slow economy and record inflation."

FISCHER SUPPORTS SENATE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE FY23 DEFENSE BILL

“I’m proud of the strong, bipartisan product our committee approved today to
provide for the common defense, take care of our military, and support the
biggest pay raise for our troops in two decades. As a senior member of the
committee, I secured critical provisions to ensure U.S. nuclear posture remains
strong in the face of China and Russia’s nuclear breakout, despite the
administration’s attempt to cut vital programs. I also protected mission
capability for the 55th Wing based out of Offutt Air Force Base."

GRAND ISLAND TO RECEIVE $6.3 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT FOR MAJOR RAIL PROJECT NEW
RAIL SIDINGS WILL MEET INCREASED DEMAND, ENCOURAGE ECONOMIC GROWTH

“I supported this federal investment because it will bring good things to the
community of Grand Island. The project will assist agricultural producers in
speeding-up delivery of their world-class products to market and alleviate rail
congestion. In turn, that’s going to spur economic development and job creation
in the region."

FISCHER ON PROMOTING MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY, NEBRASKA’S EXPERTISE IN WEATHER DATA
COLLECTION

Today U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce
Committee, participated in the committee’s nomination hearing for the
Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the
Assistant Secretary for Environmental Observation and Predication. During her
questions, Fischer raised concerns that currently there are no requirements for
freight brokers to check the agency’s data prior to hiring motor carriers which
can lead to unauthorized and potentially dangerous motor carriers on the road.
Senator Fischer will re-introduce the Transportation and Logistics Hiring Reform
Act, which will clarify hiring criteria in the selection of motor carriers on
the road and improve overall safety of the roadway.

FISCHER: BIDEN ADMIN.'S CONTRADICTORY APPROACH TO BIOFUELS IS UNDERMINING RFS,
HURTING RURAL AMERICA

"It’s always one step forward, three steps back with the Biden Administration
and biofuels. While the 2022 RVOs are significant, retroactively lowering the
2020 RVOs directly undermines these gains and contradicts Biden’s campaign
promises. Making matters worse, the administration has decided to postpone small
refineries’ compliance with the RFS, which hurts the integrity of the whole
system."

FISCHER, COLLEAGUES CALL ON USTR TO SECURE LONG-TERM FERTILIZER TRADE

"We write today to urge you to develop and begin executing a strategic plan for
the long-term stability of fertilizer trade for our farmers and ranchers.
Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine is sparking concerns over famine in Africa and
the Middle East. Societies dependent on agriculture are keenly aware of the
threat of food insecurity. Big agrarian nations like Brazil are already acting
to re-draw global trade routes, especially regarding fertilizer, to ensure the
productivity of their nation and address the needs of a starving world. We must
do the same."
