WELCOME TO THE PUBLIC PURCHASING ASSOCIATION OF CONNECTICUT

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

“Tis the season… For most of us this is the beginning of budget season.  This is
when our purchasing prowess gets put to use.  Especially in this economy.
Supply chain is the “bad word” for this season.  Contractors are stretched,
pricing can’t be held for length of time, making our bidding cycle frustrating.
The State has implemented a new law effective October 1, in which a percentage
of non-emergency fleet must be Zero-emission vehicles.

Never fear…. PPAC is here! Our December meeting is hosting Eversource/United
Illuminating.  They have teamed up to provide presentations on EV programs and
energy efficiency incentive programs.  Join us December 7th in Hamden as we
learn how we can comply with the new law and save money on facility costs.

We are in the planning stages for our 2023-24 season.  If there is a topic of
interest or concern, or you were at a recent presentation and thought it might
be helpful to your comrades, feel free to email me the topic/speaker and I will
follow up.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Join us for our upcoming meetings

January 19, 2023                              Webinar- From the NIGP Forum –
Surviving a federal audit/Cyber Security

March 16, 2023                                 PURCHASING MONTH - Diversity –
Partnering with DAS, SBA and CTPAT for a presentation and small reverse trade
show – Municipality sits at booth, vendors will come to you.          How do you
get more vendors into your projects?  Are you meeting the CHRO/DBE requirements
on our projects? This will give you opportunity to tell small businesses “how to
do business with your town”.  We need to get at least 20 towns to sit in booths
to make it worth the SBA’s while.  I will begin registration for the booths
early next month. We will begin registration for the vendors after the New
Year.

May 19, 2023                                     Hartford – Full day event of
COOP.  We are working with the local and national COOPS to create a spectacular
day.  Hartford Yard Goats Stadium.

Hope to see y'all there.
