base for the past 140 years. Today, our operations extend throughout the country
and the world. In Sweden, we conduct research and development on eight sites,
from Luleå in the north to Lund in the south.

ABOUT ERICSSON

In Sweden, Ericsson employs 14500 from over 100 nationalities that work within
all areas of the company - research, development, sales, production and
administration.

We are Sweden's largest employer of engineers and during the last years, we have
hired thousands of new engineers. We also hire 400 student summer interns each
summer and 200 students write their master’s thesis with Ericsson each year.

Globally, Ericsson has 60,000+ patents, customers in 180 countries, 105,000
employees, 271 billion SEK in net sales (2022).

5G

With 5G, everything that benefits from being connected can be connected. That is
why we see the 5G network as critical national infrastructure. It is just as
important for a country as rail, electricity networks and roads. Everything from
driverless cars to weather balloons will rely on 5G to work.

AI

Ericsson is a leader within development of artificial intelligence (AI) and
machine learning (ML). As the data networks of the future will be very
data-intensive systems, AI is a prerequisite for being able to utilize the full
potential of the network. AI is therefore a key component of all of Ericsson's
product and service offerings.­

IOT

The fourth industrial revolution, also known as "Internet of Things", is about
creating smarter cities, transport systems and industries. Sweden is the country
in Europe that applies for the most international patents within industry 4.0
and during the last decade 4 out of 5 of these applications have come from
Ericsson.
