Thank you for reading 6:29pm The Oracle has confirmed that Holy Brook car park is now OPEN until 9pm but can only be accessed via fire doors opposite BOSS. They have also confirmed that parking fees will be waived. 5:50pm Residents are concerned about wavering parking fees for cars stuck in Holy Brook car park - This is an issue we are looking into as well 5:47pm The Oracle has confirmed that "part of the Riverside is closed, not a full closure" in relation to restaurants in the area Some restaurants on the Oracle side of the riverside (such as Osaka) remain closed 4:55pm Cordons are still in place on the road between Next, Oracle, and the George Hotel but it is now open for pedestrians 4:53pm Over five hours after the evacuation the Oracle remains shut Shoppers are being turned away at the door as they still try to get in the centre 4:12pm Read more: Oracle Shopping Centre evacuation: When to expect it to be resolved Shoppers left stranded as Oracle evacuated and car park closed 'for hours' Reading Oracle: Fire service release statement on diesel leak 3:37pm The Oracle has confirmed it will be closed "until the end of the day" "We can confirm that The Oracle is currently closed and will remain so for the rest of the day whilst the fire services continue to conduct their investigations. The safety of our customers, colleagues and occupiers is always our top priority", a spokesperson said. 3:19pm WHAT WE KNOW NEARLY FOUR HOURS AFTER THE EVACUATION * SSEN are working to have the issue resolved by 6.30pm today * Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed it is a "diesel leak affecting electrical switch gear" * The Holy Brook car park remains shut * The Oracle shopping centre remains shut 3:05pm READ MORE Oracle Shopping Centre evacuation: When to expect it to be resolved 2:53pm Scottish and Southern Electricity Network said it hopes to have the issue resolved by 6.30pm today 2:51pm A spokesperson from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 12:35pm on Monday, July 3, we received reports of a diesel leak at a commercial premise at the Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading. "A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Wokingham Road Fire Station and one Officer were sent to the scene. "Upon arrival firefighters found a diesel leak affecting electrical switch gear. The building was evacuated and safety cordons were put in place, before the incident was handed over to the responsible person and the Electricity Board. "The crew was on scene for almost two hours." 2:41pm More photos from the scene - Staff waiting for access after three hours 2:41pm THREE HOURS SINCE EVACUATION WAS FIRST REPORTED: Hundreds of staff are still sitting in St Mary's Butts courtyard waiting for access to the Oracle 2:38pm Officers at the scene are telling shoppers they aren't allowed in to Holy Brook car park to get their cars - but cars are still being seen coming out 2:31pm 2:21pm Royal Berkshire Fire and Service say they are "still looking into it" 2:08pm People have been standing outside for 2.5 hours as shoppers and staff are still being advised to stay away 2:03pm One staff member that had been evacuated believed the incident to be a "fuel spillage" and a member of the public was told it is "a gas related incident" but neither statements have been confirmed by officials. 2:02pm Still no updates from police and fire services 1:53pm Shoppers and staff seen waiting outside the centre after being evacuated 1:52pm READ MORE: Reading Oracle evacuation leaves shoppers stranded as car park shuts 1:46pm WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR: * The Oracle remains shut and will be "for two to three hours" * Incident involves an "environmental issue" * Oracle Holy Brook car park is closed * Riverside car park remains open 1:35pm Shoppers are being turned away from accessing the Oracle Holy Brook car park "But my cars in there", one concerned local said after being told she couldn't get into the car park 1:28pm 1:27pm Deliveroo drivers waiting outside have been told access to the Oracle will be closed for "2 to 3 hours" 1:25pm Oracle staff are telling shoppers it is an "environmental issue" 1:23pm Shoppers are being told that the riverside car park remains open 1:17pm A shopper waiting outside John Lewis said "alarms went off" before being evacuated. Crowds have been gathered outside John Lewis over the past hour, although John Lewis store itself is unaffected 1:16pm Security guard said "we're not allowed to" tell us what has happened 1:15pm QUICK RECAP: * Shoppers and staff evacuated after incident at the Oracle * Police and security are turning people away for entrances and car parks * Services on the scene are unable to give details of the incident 1:11pm Vehicles are not being allowed to enter the Oracle car park as police turn people away 1:05pm Yield Hall Place has been blocked off from both directions 12:54pm Police and the fire service have both been spotted at the scene, although unable to confirm details of the ongoing incident 12:54pm UPDATE: THE WHOLE OF THE ORACLE IS NOW CURRENTLY BEING EVACUATED AS SHOPPERS ARE ASKED TO LEAVE "IMMEDIATELY" 12:52pm Shoppers are not being allowed to enter the Oracle shopping centre from Broad Street but the riverside entrance remains open 12:52pm A staff member from the Oracle confirmed the shopping centre is closed from Victoria Secret round to the Broad Street entrance/exit 12:51pm Waiting outside, a staff member from John Lewis said "we have no idea what is going on" 12:50pm Shoppers and staff have been evacuated as "half the Oracle" is closed off 12:43pm Good afternoon, We will be bringing you the latest information as part of the Oracle shopping centre has been evacuated. Staff from HMV can be seen waiting outside, as emergency services have cordoned off an area outside the Oracle. It is not clear yet what the incident involves, however the fire service are on the scene.
