Tempura Matsui invites you to experience the fine art of cooking tempura. Within
a serene setting, guests have a seat at our counter or tables and can view the
delicate preparation of lightly frying fresh fish and vegetables. Tempura Matsui
is designed to emulate a Japanese cottage with warm woods, slate floors and
round and square windows. A five-seat bar allows guests to wait for their seats
while enjoying a glass of wine, sake or beer.
Please note our dinner menu price will change from $220 to $250 effective from
March 1, 2023. Our website will introduce the new prices on the same day. Till
then, you can take advantage of the old prices.
You may make a reservation one month ahead and any cancellations must be made 24
hours prior to the reservation to avoid a $100 charge.

restaurant wanted you to eat it. With that in mind, Aunt Jakes’ core mission is

   This was one of the highlights of our short trip to the city! What great
   ambiance and amazing food. The rigatoni alla vodka and the chicken parm were
   the hits of the table but from the word go with the bread and infused olive
   oil, they had us. The prices were very fair and it was just a culinary
   delight. All in all, 100% win and definitively recommend!

   Food was absolutely delicious and the aromas coming from the kitchen were
   absolutely amazing the second we stepped in. Wish they had a larger cocktail
   menu, especially considering all the tropical flavors in their food items.
   The non-alcoholic beverages make up for it though. The mango lassi was so
   much better than many other restaurants’ mango lassi. The main downside I
   felt was that the busboys came to the table and picked up our plates without
   even asking. One of them took the shot that came with our appetizer and we
   hadn’t even tried it. They started asking if we were done with the plate
   later in the meal but wish they did that from the start.

   Le Coucou was one of if not the best culinary experience I’ve ever had. My
   husband and I came for our anniversary. Drinks - I had a glass of Syrah and
   my husband had a glass of Akul mezcal. I don’t normally like the smokiness of
   mezcal but I enjoyed this one. The drink markup is insane however. We decided
   to forgo the tasting menu and ordered a la cart. We started with a
   complimentary amuse-bouche. The exact name escapes me but it was some sort of
   tartine with anchovy. Then came sourdough and seaweed bread served with
   butter. So freshly baked, you could see the steam from the bread basket. For
   appetizer we had the Thon à la portugaise (yellowfin tuna, Madeira
   vinaigrette with raisins). All the flavors came together so nicely with the
   vinaigrette. This light start was the perfect first plate. For entrees, my
   husband ordered the Homard “Bourse et la Vie” (Maine lobster, sauce au
   poivre, pommes dauphine) and I ordered the Filet de boeuf, jus à la moelle,
   queue dans la boulangère (beef filet, bone marrow jus, oxtail potato). All
   impeccable. The oxtail potato was my favorite. Braised oxtail served in the
   center of a circle of soft, thin potato au gratin with crispy outsides. Like
   what?? On the lobster pepper sauce… so so good. I never had soft peppercorn
   like that. For dessert we had the Mille-Feuille (vanilla cream and caramel,
   fleur de sel) which was honestly just ok but then they gave us complementary
   dessert bites that were just AMAZING. Mini lemon macarons, decadent bites of
   chocolate ganache and the cutest warm lemon madeleines. Just perfect. I only
   wished I’d ordered an espresso to go with it all. Simply amazing. It left a
   smile on my face. The perfect ending to the meal.

   servers! The host(ess)s can be a little snobby, but that’s almost expected.

   staff apologized 2-3x and the wait was 2 mins. It was so well handled. Still
