MICHAEL BRIGUGLIO


DR MICHAEL BRIGUGLIO HAS A DOCTORATE IN SOCIOLOGY AND IS A SENIOR LECTURER AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF MALTA. HIS MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS ARE POLITICS, SOCIAL
MOVEMENTS, ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND SOCIAL POLICY, AND HE HAS PUBLISHED SEVERAL
SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS ON THESE TOPICS.

ABOUT ME

Dr Michael Briguglio is a dad, sociologist and drummer from Malta. 

He has a doctorate in sociology and is a senior lecturer within the Department
of Sociology at the University of Malta. He has published various scholarly
books and articles, and his main research interests are environmental sociology,
movements and politics.

Briguglio is a board member of Research Network 25 – Social Movements of the
European Sociological Association, and a convenor of the Works in Progress
Seminar Series at the University of Malta. He is a founding member of the Malta
Sociological Association where he currently serves as Public Relations Officer;
and is also a member of the European Sociological Association; International
Sociological Association; Association for the Study of Protest and Social
Movements; Political Studies Association; International Association for Impact
Assessment; and International Political Science Association. 

Dr. Briguglio is currently an op-ed columnist with The Malta Independent and has
previously been active in numerous civil society and political campaigns and
roles. He is an established drummer in the Malta metal and rock scene, releasing
various recordings and playing live in various concerts.
